My car is getting tuned this week and am curious about how much RWHP does it take a 6 speed cobra with slicks to go in the 9s at 3700lbs? I am thinking 700. Anyone have experience or an idea? Just looking to get some conversation going..

Broke7 hit the 9's in his 6 speed and irs. My guess for HP would be over 700 minimum, drag race suspension and a great driver mod.

for comparion Mr. Patience runs 11.50's with his 322RW 99, it's not all about HP suspension, gearing, driving skill, and weight all play a factor!

Thats it right there...... you can all the rwhp in the world but if you cant get traction or cant drive its all useless....... With my setup now i cant get traction worth crap....

A guy in indy dynoed 681 with a 2.8KB and he has a very well tuned suspension with solid rear axle and a 6 speed. Launching hard on slicks he has done 10.21 this year so 700 may be the magic number.

Local guy with pullied GT500 was at the track last Friday night. He is around 750 HP but only ran 12.5 because the car had no traction on street tires. 60 ft times were over 3 seconds and he trapped around 120. Once he got it moving, it was moving well.

I was told a buddy of mine ran a 9.xx last weekend in cool weather and big drag radials. He has a Whipple and lots of work to put down a safe 667 rwhp.

what is his set up do you know? Like solid rear or irs, auto/manual?

Sorry I called my buddy to clarify. IRS and 6-speed. On street tires he ran low 10.xx. Also broke one of the axles. They say he should be in the high 9s if he went to a slick. I was heading out to school when they all went to the track a couple of weekends ago.

I would say you need over 700rwhp to run consistent 9s and a good driver. Broke7 runs consistent 9s with I think 730ish rwhp? And theres a guy "McTrans" on youtube with a 2.3 whipple, makes 702rwhp, 6speeed irs, and runs high 9s as well. But these are the rare cases you don't see too many irs cars in the 9s

700-735 rwhp you can hit 9s on a full weight IRS 6 speed if you can drive. You swap to auto or solid axle or yank weight and the amount of power of course goes down.

I ran a handful of 9's this year and a bunch of 10.0s. Irs 6spd weighing in around 3700-3725ish

Only weight out is slicks/skinnies. Rear seat delete And kmember. I do have a 6pt which cancels out some of the weight drop

60ft is the key. If my car is going anything worse than 1.52 its a 10.1-10.2 combo. Low low 1.5's it goes 10.0s and when I run my 9s it goes 1.47-1.49. 5 hundreths outa 60ft will give you roughly 1/10th out the back

I use my car for drag but I have left Lot on the table. Only has an irs brace, diff bushings , and 3.73s. I still run stock halfshafts

For any serious IRS racer go by a set of 28 or 26" 10.5 ET Drag stiffwalls. Helped my car leaps and bounds. No swaying etc.

Im on my iphone but if you search my youtube channel "xxwgxx" all of vids are on there

My car has stock heads/stock cams and mmr 8.5:1 bottom end. Kb 2.8 @ 26psi 3.2/3 and dyno'd 724whp sae thru a 28" mt dr on stock rims.
