So i just bought the car and i planned on changing the plugs out here in the next few days. I know there is probably already a thread on this but i really didn't want to search through countless pages of ancient threads. So my question is what is the ideal plug gap for my car?

I prefer running as cold a plug as possible. I have a 2.8 and stock lower too. I've run the TR6ixs at .032 and I prefer the TR7ixs. The TR7ixs come between .035-.036. I use that gap, as its not necessary to close the gap with a 2.8. Idles great and runs like a champ.

Went from Tr6s @ .032 to TR7IXs at stock gap of ~.035... world of difference. No hiccups at 1500-1700rpm like it used to.

My car hated the ix's when I ran them. They would foul after a few months but that was with a Whipple @ 19lbs of boost.

Now I use Tr6's (copper) and have no issues at all. You could gap at .034". Could be a matter of trying a few different plugs to see what your car likes.

TR6's out-of-the-box...no need to touch the gap given your pulley size, plus TR6's are so cheap that you can put new plugs in every oil change if you want.

TR7IX - stay nice and shinny for me. TR6 great cheap alternative. 20k miles with them. Some cars like the TR7IX, some don't.

Rough guide

Spark Plug Gap
stock .052-.056.
Eaton pullied: .035
Eaton ported/pullied: .032
twin screw: .028
turbo .028

Just want to update since this is back from the dead. Still running the TR7ix (.035 - .036) gap on my 2.76 port. Wasn't sure if I'd get away with such "wide" a gap on the port but no problems at all.

No blowout or anything? I'm thinking of opening my gap up to .034 or .035 Hmmm. I'm currently running .032.

I've always run the out of the box gap on the TR7ixs which is still (.035 - .036). I check the gap all the time on new sets of plugs I buy. I ran that wide a gap on my 2.8 stock eaton and its firing just as perfect now with the ported eaton. I actually started running the out of the box gap because all the TR6 fanboys said it always have to be .032. lol

Have to admit I went .035. The wider the better, out of the box and verified. It's a general guide. TR7IX seem to work nice for some out of the box I guess?

I always thought using the coldest plug possible with a wider gap was preferred? Better anti-detonation property's etc? I'm running the BR7EF I believe that is the copper version of the TR7IX. I'm going to have to change my plug gap soon, See how it responds.
