OP, I graduated at 21 have been working for 3 years. What gives you the right to say a person is detrimental to our generation? You got 8000 posts here. Seems like you're no better than the generation you're talking shit about. lol

Good for you. I'm glad you feel that you have the right to judge me and who I am strictly on the post count I hold on an Internet forum. Any particular reason you feel the need to come in here and try to start something? This is strictly a discussion topic.

I'm 28, and own a business. Always been good with money management, responsibility. Growing up poor and having to work for everything is likely why I chose to swim over sinking.

My neighbor used to work for me until today. He's 26 or 27. Works hard (not to be a dick, but good grunt worker, nothing more), when he actually shows up. Horrible money management skills, no sense of responsibility and everything is everyone else's fault. He worked for my other neighbor as well, and despite my knowing ahead of time, he always made it out to be the victim until he was fired last month. Even his brother asked me to be patient since he just got back from several tours and was working on him to get him to grow up.

Final straw was he chose to go to the bar and try to get a piece of ass last night, leaving me high and dry this morning. Done this a couple times, but eventually showed up in the past. Multiple calls and even beating on the door yielded nothing today. Had the balls to text me 45 minutes ago asking to be paid in advance to cover bills he mismanaged. I haven't even replied to him as I know it will start a snow ball effect of me going off the deep end. So I'll deal with it tomorrow. The biggest insult is the lack of not even giving me a b.s excuse as to why he didn't show up. Just ignored me until he needed money to prevent more overdrafts, which he does weekly.

He represents the "other half" of our generation. Being in a college town, it is pretty split in terms of those who will succeed, and leaches. My socialist neighbors are a prime example of leaches, I could write a whole topic on, but I digress...

I'd say our generation has a far larger number of those with a sense of entitlement, and expect others to cover their screw ups. But we aren't completely screwed just yet, as I know plenty of PhD students and others who work hard to succeed. So while I agree, ours and the next generation are the next evolution of leaches, I think we still have enough that will only be pushed so far in terms of propping up the lazy before they push back. Most are definitely more quiet and reserved (non-confrontational) , but still think they will hit a break point and push back before we go completely off the deep end.

Internet and smartphones have ****ed up people born in the 90s. When I was growing up, the only things we had were sports, hanging out with friends, family vacations, renting movies from blockbuster or getting extremely lucky finding a good show with good reception on channel 2,5,7, 9, 11 or 32 in my FAMILY ROOM..

Being able to find ANYTHING on the internet with 300+ channels in kid's bedrooms these days is wrong. Kids have less desire to experience things in life because they've seen everything on a monitor in their bedrooms. With dissatisfaction in real life experiences comes dysfunction. Just look at Japan, probably the most technology dependent country and they're facing extinction with a dangerously low birth rate. Young folks aren't having sex, they're all watching it on the internet there!

I know that the saying "kids these days!!" will go on forever, but I think the growth in technology with irresponsible use has lead to extremely unique circumstances in that era. Parents are smarter these days about letting their kids look at anything online.

As the title says, is it too late? I am almost 26, born 1988. I feel that I am disconnected with most of my generation purely out of the fact the rest of them seem like a hoard of idiotic, lazy, selfish kids that just don't know how to handle themselves in life.

Over the last few years, finishing college and becoming a part of the working community starting my career, I've really noticed just how f'ed up and niave most of the kids my age are, not to mention the fact younger Gen Y kids I want to just exterminate period.

Everyone matures with age, but are the "values", or lack thereof, and habits of Gen Y already instilled so much into their being and purpose that it may be too late to save this generation from becoming completely useless as a majority in society?

I'd really like to keep this as a serious discussion as much as possible, so please try to not get so off topic that it derails the entire thread.

Look at it this way. You will be an All star for the rest of your life if you just put in an average effort. And no they cannot be saved until hardship touches their lives in a meaningful way. Suffering is the necessary ritual of purification that breaks through the apathy of youth.

My God your only 26...go get laid already

That 26 year old sounds like he has more intelligence in his finger than you have in your entire body. You might actually learn something from him instead of coming in threads and making useless smartass comments like that.

The only advise I have is to not worry about anyone but yourself.

Letting stupid shit like this bother you is a recipe for disaster.

Kurt didn't post this for nothing!

This is by far the best advice in this thread.

Maybe some of you cry baby ass butthurts like Venomous and Dirty need to read it over and over.
Instead of getting panties in a bunch of what I post.
Could care less how succesful and wise OP thinks he is, he sounds like a whiney ass arrogant snoode.

Tell me this OP how many countries have you lived in outside of TX, USA?
Are you a veteran or peace corp? Did you actually go fight for the freedoms of the generation you frown upon?? You are aware that the very generation your complaining about make up a huge percentage of our KIA Veterans right????

I bet you haven't seen shit in life compared to most here...thats why i said you come off as a young crybaby who doesn't know his head from his ass.

Life could eat you alive and spit you out tomorrow with nothing. Quit being so judgmental.

This is like the 5th thread of some crybaby ass American with 8k posts on a car forum makes a thread complaining about thier generation.

WTF is intelligence when it comes to actually hardened real life experience Venomous?

Quit being pompous and mind your own business in life....maybe you'll actually live longer instead of spending your time angry at the way things are that you have no control over.

In the United States of America everyone doesn't have to confide to your particular standards in life.

Deal with it or move elsewhere

Not really sure who the **** you think you are.

I can agree with what Kurtdog says. But it's far from being something that consumes me like you apparently think it does. I think about this from time to time, and I know I'm not the only one.

I don't see where you are reading me coming off as pompous and arrogant on my success either. All i said was having just graduated and become a part of the working community. I am not even 3 years outside of college. So if you consider that small swatch of time to consider someone successful, then cool. However, I have a long time until I see myself as any sort of successful. I'm not successful right now, and I'm okay with that. Sounds to me like you are the one with your panties in a was getting butthurt of a simple thread. If you disagree with me, cool, I'm fine with that. But when you come in here and start throwing personal insults at me thinking you know me, again, I ask who the **** are you? I can easily come back with shit towards you, but I'm higher than that.

I don't have to have lived outside of this country or have served in the armed forces to know just how good we have it with our lives here.

So if you have no business posting in this thread, I will again, ask that you take yourself somewhere if you are going to do nothing other than sling personal insults just because you can sit behind a keyboard and type without any repercussions to you. From what it sounds like, you really are a bro-rage.

So what you're saying is be apathetic and bury your head in the sand like a ostrich instead of recognizing a problem our generation has, or our country as a whole for that matter? That's the problem with people here, it's much easier to just go about business as usual instead of recognizing a problem and correcting it. That is why this country is so ****ed up today on so many levels, and why we have such incredibly incompetent leaders in charge.

I don't care how hardcore someone thinks they are, what shit they've seen, what they've done with their life, etc. If someone brings up an actual legitimate problem, makes a decent argument about it, and offers insight as to what's causing the problem and how to correct it, i respect that. A hell of a lot more than a mindless buffoon who blows it off and only cares about himself and nothing else.

That's just my .02 though.

Haha. You must walk around everywhere like you are king big dick huh? What are your credentials to come around and tell other people to shut up?

You want to know the problem with our country and society right now? The fact that people here DO take our way of life for granted. The fact that people DO choose NOT to pay attention to what is going on around them. Instead of getting involved and trying to make things better, people choose to "mind their own business" as you said, which does absolutely nothing to accomplish higher standards for society.

Let me burst your bubble even more with your contradictory post.

People that joined the military are people that chose NOT to sit around and mind their own business. They instead decided to put themselves in harms way to protect the very thing you are using right now, freedom of speech, no matter how stupid you sound.

People that have joined the peace corp chose NOT to sit around and mind their own business but rather to donate their time to try and help the world become a better and more compassionate place for others.

If people chose to mind their own business, the majority of the things we have and take advantage of would not exist.

The United States wasn't created by people minding their own business, just in case you weren't aware of that. If our founding fathers had decided to "mind their own business", this country wouldn't exist, dumb****.
