Thought you guys would appreciate this. Such a great time in our countries history (end of WWII). This is one of my favorite pictures of all time....awesome! I wish I was around to witness this time period, back when people actually embraced and gave all they had to this country, including their lives.

One of the most famous war photos ever! Of course, the nurse didn't know the sailor at the time. It was a spontaneous thing. Sad to hear that the status in Sarasota, FL was recently hit by a car. I drive by it every time I visit. Hope the damage wasn't great and that it can be repaired. That statue always gets my attention. It's so tall. Kind of crazy how no one knows exactly who the two in the photo are. The nurse didn't know the sailor, and after the photo was taken the nurse slapped the sailor.

It's definitely a cool picture, but nowhere near as polarizing as the one you're talking about.
