LS1 owner...

Guy came in today and asked who drove the mach outside. I said i did, he then stated that he has beat a few mach's. He said he runs 7.9 in the 1/8 with a 2.1 60'. He said he has a bolton SS, w/ filter, and exhaust. This car would no doubt be in the 12's, but runnin 7.9 in the 1/8, which is 12.0, 11.9 in the 1/4? He must have more done then what he is saying.

Yeah, with a crappy 60-ft like that he'd have to be making some pretty decent power. Either he's lying about his times , or some folks use the term bolt-on pretty loosely so he may have more than he's implying.

Thats what i was thinken. He acted like it was a bonestock ls1 with exhaust, and cai. Thats why I posted to get some feedback from the ls1 crowd.

My guess is he is lying about his time. The guy walked in to where you work and asked about your car and then starts talking how he beats Mach1s and starts braging about his time...I don't know...to me it sounds like someone that is full of shit or has no idea what they are talking about...

Thats exactly what happened. I was in the back and heard him talking, and heard him say he has beat a few Machs, so of course my ears perk up. The guy he was talking to drives a 2003 z06(co worker).

ive seen bolt on LS1's go 11.80's in the 1/4 but thats with like a 1.6 60' the guy sounds like a tool bag though coming into your job and talkin crap about your car. i wouldnt loose any sleep over it...we all know theres always a faster car, but that doesnt mean we should all go around lookin for hondas and saying how we always smoke them...thats ok though i had a guy with a catback LT1 Z28 saying he went 13.0 @ 130....some people are just clueless

Well, for the average F-body a 7.9 translates roughly into mid to low 12's (12.5-12.3) So he is going to need at least full bolt-ons or a good list of bolt-ons and a small cam (or basically stock with a shot of juice)

My vette does run 7.9 with a 2.1 sixty in the 1/8 but then again I am far from intake only. I would consider that a bad run and he's bragging about it!

I didn't take a offence, I respect a fast car. I offered to race him since it would be a bolton mach vs a bolton ls1. I thought it might be a pretty good race, then started to think about his time, and if he's running 7.9, then he has me beat.

7.9 is a low 12, it is possible with a bolt on ls1, but not with a 2.1 60'. when mine had lid, chip,lt's, ory, cutout=2.0 60' 8.1 1/8 [email protected] 1/4. to run that time with that 60' he would have to trap 116+ in the 1/4 (which is very hard to believe for a bolt on f-body). so either he's lying about his mods or his 60' or both.

This dude just came in and found some random stranger who happened to own a Mach just to tell them he has beaten a Mach in a race before?
