What went wrong? I blew my L motor in 14 months. That was a 12k bill.

When you can get a civic for 20k nearly brand new, no! Again, my personal income may be the problem here. I see all too often someone driving a nice car or truck, pulling a nice new boat etc. The bank owns it all. I hate car notes. But i'm in the oil field and it isnt steady.

Drive 200hp Honda vs driving 640whp Blown V8....hmmm.......

I'm with you on the bank owning shit, not my style either.

Why stop there, why not just buy a $1,500 used Civic? Maybe a $600 moped?

Realistically, if you want me to drop $70k cash on a depreciating asset, it's going to take me 5 years of saving - I'm a bit to impatient for that. You ever see those old farts retiring and finally buying that classic muscle car or corvette they always dreamed of owning - to hell with that. Tomorrow is never promised and while fiscal responsibility is always important, so is actually living your life and not hoping for a day that may never come.

This. You will damn near NEVER be able to drive a 700+ blown RWD V8 for less than $600/Mo new.
I looked for a sweet AMG for months and when I was offered a $590/Mo $995 down Hellcat Charger lease I jumped and don’t regret it.
Totally recommend the A8, the Hellcat M6 is geared poorly and forget a 4400# manual that gets SMOKED by the A8. Many drive modes with SRT and the A8 so it’s best of both worlds. See Booky post, he nailed it.

Didn’t you start a thread two weeks ago asking how the heck to people afford nice cars?

Your answer is leasing a 70K car that has 700Hp and RWD as your only vehicle while living in the Midwest (snow and ice 4-5 months a year).

Be very cautious. Most car companies have a 3rd party inspect the car prior to lease return. They are BRUTAL and usually cant over rule their determination.
YOU pay for any damage beyond the wear and tear agreement you choose.
^^This.
Especially if you are going to be driving it through winters. Make sure you don't get into any accidents. I'm pretty sure that diminishes the value and "may" come out of your pocket.
Either way, good luck man. The Hellcats are awesome cars. OH,.....and go A8!!

Yes, but if they are going to try and rape me for a $5k turn in, I can just buy it and resell it (if the goal is to sell it).

Also the Lease vs Buy -

Typical Lease is around $600/M $0 down. (assuming the dealer will do 10% off)

As mentioned - that is $22k for 3 years.

Residual is around $42k.

2015 Challengers are going for $45k.

Buying - 84/m 3.64% = $914.64

After 36 months you will owe - $40,008.21
You will also have paid - $27,725 in principle and $6,117.16 in interest for a total of $33,842. If you choose to sell, the value is expected to be $45,000. You will recoup $5,000 for a total loss of $28,842.

Thus, $22k vs $29k - buying a new Hellcat will cost you $7k more for 3 years of ownership.

Now if you re-up your lease and buy the car to keep it 7 years -
You'll pay taxes on that $42k, an a 4 year note will be $1,007 on that now $45k. Total interest paid will be $3,419.00, for a total of $48,359

So total cost to Lease + Buy in 7/y = $70,359
Total cost to buy in 7/y = $76,796

During all of the Hellcat hype I settled for a 15 Scat Pack with an A8. A year later after the hype died I went out of state to buy a 16 A8 Hellcat. It was an awesome car and the A8 is a great transmission. I drove it for about a year and a half and got bored. I traded it and picked up my current 15 M6 Hellcat. If I was driving it everyday or was a big drag racer I would take the A8 hands down. I drive my car on nice weekend days and find the manual more fun for what I use it for. I don't love the gearing for driving around town, but other than that it's a blast. There are a ton of lightly used garage queen Hellcats out there for high 40s to low 50s. The values will probably tank more once all of the original leases are turned in and people trade up for the Red Eye. That's what I would be looking for if I was you. My second Hellcat was used and it seems more solid than the A8 I bought new was. I'm hoping Track Hawk values tank so I can pick one up and have the best of both worlds.

I've only done the lease thing once.
I "leased" it for 3 years, but I knew I wanted to buy it at the end at thr very beginning. So, I made my regular payments and a little before the lease was up, I called for a payoff and told them I wanted to buy the truck outright. They gave me the numbers and I wrote the check and in the mail the next day. I used the lease for the lower monthly payment only.
This was for my '05 GoMango Ram Daytona 4X4, rcsb. What a bad ass truck that was.

don't lease, buy a clean used one. Call Penfed and they can get you a great rate.

For me, it's not a race car unless you are banging the gears in a manual. Any pussy can drive an auto "fast".

Useless argument as in this case the performance gap is significantly in favor of the A8 and only windens with mods.
It’s hard to call a 4500# ride a race car. If you want to go fast at the track with a manual, Hellcat is a terrible choice.

In February I bought my Hellcat. I had a Terminator prior. I never drove an A8 before my purchase, I only drove an M6. I bought the M6 because I just love driving a manual. I almost don't want to drive an A8 because I may regret my decision but let me tell you, I love this damn car. I did the CDV Delete and a Barton Shifter and the car is so much fun to drive. Nothing just jamming gears. I am still young (26) and wasn't ready to go auto.

But like I said, I never drove the A8, but the M6 is a fun as car. Also, I'm not trying to break any records and I do not daily my Hellcat. Just wanted a fun cruiser.

That sig is nasty bro! Wow, that is hot. lol
Can you explain to me what the CDV Delete is?
I'm currently looking at the 2019 Redeye, but I HATE that dual snorkel hood. Would love a C7Z07, but that is well over a 100K for the build that I want.

Thanks man. It stands for the "Clutch Delay Valve" delete. There are a ton of threads on it. Basically it deletes a plastic piece in the hydraulic clutch line that restricts fluid travel but supposedly makes it easier for people to operate the clutch? It definitely made the car feel better after deleting it though.

Here is a thread all about my car if you want to check it out (although now that I think about it I'm pretty sure you've seen it).

Thanks for the info man.
Yes, I have seen your car. Love it. Those little fender flares look perfect too.

My daily doesnt even make 200hp and its far slower. Sometimes you have to do what you can afford.

You can keep asking the same question until enough people tell you what you want to hear. Good luck.
