That ain't happnin again. I am gonna get one. I hope to hit the top of the biggest baddest of the bad............so I can keep it and when someone says "Remember when cars were putting down 500+ horsepower?"

And I'll say, Remember it? Hell sonny my Cobra is out in the Barn under the tarp!!! Wanna go for a spin???

I understand your point of view, cause I used to say the same thing. Bottom line is the next year will always hold something bigger and better. There comes a point where you have to draw the line and buy, cause if you keep stalling waiting for the better next year you'll have a full head of grey strands before ya know it :p

I love that the HP war seems to be continuing. I also love just about everything in that article except.... the Cobra getting 20" wheels? I sure hope they give us plenty of sidewall to roll on or performance will suffer. I'm not even sure I'd like the sight of 20's on any vehicle other than large trucks (like the new Rams).

Thats what I was saying... 20 inch chuck wagons... Not exactly ideal for a 500hp car with a light rear end.

IMO I think the V6 should get the 20 inch rims... its not like they'll be doing anything but cruising anyway.

Yea, now that I think about it there is a Lorinser version of the Mercedes SL that has 5 spoke 20's and they look awesome. Somehow they managed to give it a decent amount of sidewall and take away from the wagon wheel look. In fact, looking at the pic I thought they were 18's. Once I read the write-up I realized they are 20's. Still, I can't see myself going any larger than 18.

Go here to see what I am talking about. http://www.lorinser.com/englisch/#

You can see the wheels in the background pic on the opening page and if you click on "Car Classes", then on the page that opens click the "SL-Class" at the bottom.

LMAO! True enough! Maybe they could include a "performance sticker option" too. ;-)

I doubt we'll see any carbon fiber mustangs soon, so 2800lb estimate is a joke. Just the idea that it'll supposedly have a 5.4 liter supercharged engine (surely a forged block) will put weight at 3300+ right off. Unless they expect to charge C6 prices, they won't be able to drop much below that figure without exotic materials.

Damm the new mustangs look sweeet!Who said they look like ass?I read that the cobra will look even more aggressive.Imagine the power of a modded 03, 500 lbs less,on a better platform.Imagine what mods will do to that thing! A bolt on 06 would run better than a kennebelle 03.Im getting way ahead of myself.I hope they keep it priced right.Im there.

They look like a tall BMW 8 series IMHO. The front looks pretty cool, and seems to keep the Stang feel to it. The back needs a lot of help.

2800lbs is the curb weight of the prototype... nobody said anything about it being the production curb weight... Plus that was based off of the vert model, with the Termintors heavy power plant. Even if the car ends up weighing between 3200 to 3400lbs thats a radicle improvement in comparison to the 3700lbs curb weight of the current Cobra.

The back will look much better wearing 315s.If you think about it this car could run 11s out of the box.10s with a pulley chip and cai.

I think that may be somewhat wishful thinking, but we'll see.

Have they fixed the shifter position in the new bodystyle?

I hate shifting to 3rd and 5th and almost throwing my shoulder out or worse hitting my stereo because the shifter is so far foward.

Only complaints I have about the shifter is trying to go from 5th to 4th, but accidentally sliding in to 6th.

I put down some guy in a Z3 that was zooming up pretty quick... It slid into 6th instead of fourth... Still beat the guy lol but it would have been nicer if I could have just turned him into a dot.

Then again most of that is just learning how to drive the 6 speed...

Watch out viper, here we come! With Ford lowering the cobra's weight to about 3250 pounds, The cobra should easily beat the viper! I better start saving up!

I'd be VERY surprised to see a stock 3200lb cobra if they plan to keep the iron block and charge under 40 grand.
