What would you do if you were the President or CEO of Ford and were developing a high performance car back in the day? You would have a few 'special' cars with a setup that was slightly different than the rest of them and paint it in a way that showed it.

Of course it would not be released as public knowledge but some people would recognize this. Do you think that all Corvettes and Cobras were built the same... or are there a few of them that have a 'little extra".

This is why they have different models of each car... It doesn't stop with just a fundamental Mustang.. There is the mustang GT, the Cobra, the 6 cylinder and this goes on...

These sub categories have sub categories particularly when it comes to performance cars. This is why they race cars and support the drag racing and Indy style racing events. The hundred different models that exist from the car in the showroom and the one at the Pomona Finals include all contingencies.

Naive I am not, uninformed either. There are Cobras that have that 'extra" and they have been painted or marked as special. The worst performing car is going to get the special color? I don't think so. The opposite would be true.

You would give a special color only to the highest quality and strongest cars when it comes to performance vehicles. Or am I wrong?

Maybe its Orange..... Maybe its Mystichrome. Maybe it's not.

according to theory Friday cars are the worst because the guys building them are so anxious to get to their weekend that they are distracted and pay less attention. Monday cars would be better but they say the best cars are built tue-thurs with wed. cars being the best.

don't know how true it is or if there was ever any real attempt to verify the rumor, nor do I have any idea if it is still true. Back in the day it would not surprise me tho, since fridays are almost always the least productive days. With all the automation in factories now it may not hold true at all anymore

I find it funny the specific threads for certain colors....ie Mystichrome / DSG

going by OP comments, I guess the slow Terminators must be the plain old MS......I guess I better look into getting my car painted a different color....this follows the old logic, chrome valve covers/ air cleaner are worth an extra 25hp...:lol:

mine is a Tuesday car and has had lots of problems and warranties. I always thought that it being built Sept 10 '02 the day before the first anniversary of 9/11 is why, somehow.

maybe just my luck though, and I still love it anyhow.

Rumor has it that a great number of tested cars that showed 'abnormally high power and performance' were given the Mystichrome tag. They tested a lot of cars and were very selective about the color choice.

If you bought your Mystichrome brand new, how many miles did it have on it? If it had between 38 and 88 miles on the odometer, chances are it was a tested car.

Anyone know the lowest to highest power rated 04 Cobra color schemes from the factory? Like I said, it was a rumor that was floated around a few years back.

Have you ever step foot in an assembly plant? First off the cars are painted long before the engine is stuffed into them. I have been in this plant many times and I have NEVER seen a primer car rolling off the line. :bs:

Oh this means the body would need to be pulled off the car and then ran back through the paint line. hmmm don't think so.

The only incorrect part about the rumor is that the engine was put on an engine dyno instead of in the car first and then the car being painted after. They already had the bodies painted like in the picture posted earlier in this thread. But they saved all the motors that dyno'ed the highest on the engine dyno and put them in the already painted bodies.

I mean, that is pretty damn realistic isn't it? Oh wait, that wouldn't explain the mileage part of the rumor...hmm, my car is comp orange and it had the mileage note in it, but mine couldn't have one of the higher hp motors because of the color.

Now, why did it take 4 yrs after production for the rumor to surface? Anyone?

Dude you guys have it all wrong! Color has nothing to do with how fast your car is... Its the number of stickers you have on your car duhh!!
