Exactly. What I said is nothing more then the truth. I can't even imagine how many children have been molested at the hands of these dirt bags. And then the cover-ups.... Sickening.

Catholicism isn't the only religion with dirtbags. They just get the most attention.

Well in fairness...the OP's comments were actually pretty benign. I mean there is a great deal of corruption and questionable practices taking place within the Catholic institution and how they handle allegations made by those within their ministry. Those facts are simply unavoidable.

His comments were not at all benign. Not even close. Just FYI I'm not catholic or religious I just felt this thread should be in smack down not roadside because of the sarcasm and nature of the op. I'm not so arrogant as to talk down to those because of their religious beliefs or accuse a new pope of covering up/denying a major issue before he has had the chance to do so.

I agree, I am not Catholic but his motives were clear, to insult the religion and likely religion in general. It was and is completely unnecessary in Roadside or even SVTP as a whole.

Maybe I'm just a little desensitized to the content of the site. The RS is repeatedly filled with snide and baiting comments and in some cases, overt trolling. It is not the first time nor the last that we will see in RS, people who are not believers, putting down those that are in some way shape or form.

The institution, that runs the Catholic denomination, is very shady. And I don't believe that the OP extended his criticism at all Catholic Christians, rather to the head of the institutional structure of that denominational wing of the Christian church. Its a fair point by the OP, albeit a controversial one. I don't ever remember controversial topics being limited to only SD.

Someone give this guy a medal. I do not think all Catholics are bad. But the people running this church are very shady to say the least. How many of those cardinals have either abused or covered up abuse? Sadly, I bet way more then we know of already.

I tend not to give a rats ass about the Roman Catholic Church and their next Pope/Emperor/Queen/King. The RC Church is essentially a medieval institution trying to stamp medieval values on the world and of course their goal is their own glorification, not the good of their followers. I mean, all that wealth concentrated in Rome, their enormous holdings, their art etc. You'd think they'd distribute a bit of it to the world's needy. You also would think they would attempt to protect children, not hide their abuse of them. Etc, etc. And the press will go on and on about all this.

All of the cardinals were appointed by the last two popes, which means the Nazi takeover of the church is complete. The Catholic church as it existed in 1978 is gone. It's as though a burglar came into your house as patriarch and gradually replaced every member of your family.

The pope is no one important and does nothing important. he's just a person with a superficial title, and way too old to be of any leadership value anyhow. dude's 76 years old. he's bound to croak any day. :nonono:

by the time he gets out of bed, it's time to go back to bed.

FlahDah man.
Tough job in a difficult time, wish him well. If he is suscessful, he can make the lives of a lot of people better. I speak, not as a member of his faith but as as an adult hoping for the best.

Perfectly said.

It's basically any other governmental institution on earth. Just like us, the peons aren't the problem. They mean well enough just as we mean well enough. It's management that creates the problems leaving a bitter taste in everyone else' mouth about the institution as a whole.

People in SD were telling us (Feds) that it was good for us to be losing our jobs and money etc etc (which I find to be pretty damn socialist statements from "patriotic Americans"). Then again people treat religion the same way here on svtp. If you don't conform to their exact belief structure (even Atheism) then you have simply gone full retard living in Never Never land.

I may not be worthy or practicing, but I respect everyones right to believe what they want. Hell if more Americans would do a little self focus instead of trying to point out the bad in everyone else perhaps we wouldn't be as polarized as we are now.

Seriously? When was the last time Catholics formed radical groups beheaded people, kept their woman covered from head to toe and beat them at will or flew airplanes into a building? Catholics have some scandal behind them, but not to the level of Islam.

I wish and pray for the Pope that he is able to do his duties to the best of his abilities. The Roman Catholic church is not perfect, and those of you who think it is the only religious entity to have scandles, you are sadly mistaken.
We have people in our society that molest their own children. The Roman Catholic church is filled with men who are sinners, just like us. And they should be held to a higher standard. But, make no mistake about it, they are still men, and do wicked things. There is no way to stop evil in the world. And evil know no boundaries. There is a lot of good that comes from the Catholic Religion, as well as other religions.

God Bless the Pope and may he be guided by the Word of God and do good for the people.

Well said brother. Completely agree with you on all points.

(And you were made worthy already. Nothing can ever change that).

There's a clear line drawn in this thread of basically adults who can see the positive impact a good Pope can have, and then you have the close minded fools trapped in their own ideologies, unwilling to budge or see the potential good.

I don't agree with the structure or management of the Catholic Church as a Christian, but it doesn't change the fact that even still, their impact is more positive than negative around the world; it's just that you'll only hear about the negative which influences our perception.
