I just wanted to put in my two cents in regards to being careful.

I generally hate reading threads like these because they're gay. BUT, I'd like to make it anyways.

I know most of you guys have had HIGH HP cars before, so this is nothing new for you.

To those of you who haven't, like myself, please please be careful. I had my '99GT for 8 years, NEVER once broke 95 or so on a public road, too much fear of tickets and such.

I went 60-100 flat tonight in 3rd gear (EDIT: make that 2nd gear i think) on the highway and it's intoxicating. It happens SO fast it's like the car is just laughing at you.

That's all. Don't **** up.

I have a 2008 GT 500 with the 3:31 gears. At the drag stripe, I cross the finished line in 3rd gear shifting at 6400 RPM's. I make about 630 with stock ported blower. Yes these cars at this hp level will haul butt and you have to be very careful.

I knew the car would be fast, but it pulled just as if not harder >80mph as my '99GT does in 1st with 4.10s

I don't know how 1000+ hp dyno queens stay on the road.

what is the top spead in 3rd gear? I read 140 but that couldnt be right

This is pretty close actually. Based on a 7000 rpm red line and a 20" 285/35 tire, the theoretical top speeds are below.

These are the gear ratios and the theoretical top speeds:
1st : 2.66 ==> 65 mph
2nd: 1.82 ==> 96 mph
3rd: 1.30 ==> 134 mph
4th: 1.00 ==> 175 mph
5th: 0.77 ==> 227 mph
6th: 0.50 ==> 350 mph

Yup once you have this kinda of power and get used to it you will never want to go back. My last four mustangs have all been supercharged with 500+rwhp. Enjoy that beast!! :beer:

Heh yeah...it can get hairy if you do not pay attention. My 03 cobra made good power, my 08 was 430ish....But my Shelby is a whole different type of beast......I have not had a dyno yet, but I know the numbers are either just South of 600 or just a touch North of it to my wheels. Either way its the most powerful Mustang I have owned.

Soon you will be used to it and wanting to mod it. That is just the way it goes. I do think this car will attract some buyers who have not experienced acceleration like this though. Probablky some good advice for some folks :)

OP, you just still have newcaritis. You'll be used to it and wanting more in, like, two weeks. Trust me! Especially if you run up on a modded '10+ (and a few '07-'09) on the freeway and get dragged down the road! LOL
