I either use it or olive oil to grease pans before I cook, depending on what I'm making, works well.

Coconut oil is the new fad, it will be gone soon. As far as the health effects are concerned, nothing has changed.

The A.D.A says the following:
"We still recommend other unsaturated fats over coconut oil because of its high saturated fat content."

And the American Dietetics Association confirms:
"It is a saturated fat, and consumers are cautioned against a diet high in saturated fat. Virgin coconut oil is high in lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid that raises both good and bad cholesterol levels."

My wife uses it every day...breakfast and dinner. I can't use to the subtle taste, so she has reluctantly agreed to not use it when she cooks for me. I know it is good stuff. Just don't like the taste.

supposedly it has benefits in slowing Alzheimers development as well. Hell, at 33, I feel like I already have full blown Alz's because of my shitty memory.
