what do you guys normally use? i've seen a flip setup before a while back and was wondering if everyone actually uses that or just ends up mounting it in the front of the bumper like every other car. i hate the fact that i have to mount a license plate in my front bumper when i go back to tx.

We have a 2 plate system here in MA, but fortunately for me I still have my first plate from before they switched so as long as I keep that plate registered I am grandfathered in. Over the years I have run that plate on every "special" car that I have owned, because I have never wanted to deface the front end with a plate - especially when I had my '65 Cobra replica. Can you imagine trying to put a plate on the front of one of those?

Never put it on. I have the plate mounted on a broken bracket in the trunk. Been stopped twice, told the officers the bracket broke....working on a new one. Let me go both times.

CT has a front license plate law where you must have it on. I've had 4 other cars before the Cobra, never got pulled over for not having a front plate, and if I got pulled over for something else never got my balls busted for the plate. First thing I did when I bought the Cobra was have the front bumper painted. Idk about TX but in CT they are pretty cool about it.

I've been pulled over for lack of front plate. I made my own little bracket in front of the H/E - which many pointed out as being a bad idea. I removed it last year when it got really hot (even though the car seemed fine with it in place). I haven't put it back since, and have not been pulled over specifically for lack of it either.

Lobo Loco may have provided the reason the cops seem to have been more lenient lately. I was pulled over a few weeks ago and the missing front plate was never brought up.

the only thing that has ever been in my back seat is my front plate.

Not sure if NH requires it or not. Never put it on for the Cobra. Front plate sits in the dash on the windshield. I do 98% of my driving in MA and have never had a problem with it. I also have the plate in my windshield for my DD civic due to a broken bracket and drive 50+ miles a day in MA without an issue.

Yes, there is a law in CT requiring front plates, but it isn't enforced. I never had a plate on my '03 Cobra (dealer wouldn't drill the bumper without my approval) and was never hassled. Actually if you take a quick survey as you're driving on any CT road you'll find a high percentage of car don't have front plates. I've actually never head of anyone, at least around here, getting cited for not having a front plate. We're pretty fortunately to have such a lenient enforcement policy on this.

The kit suggested in this thread for those who just don't want to drill their bumper is a good one.

Here in Texas, I used to just stick mine up in the front right corner of the windshield never had a problem. I have since registered my Cobra in Michigan and dont worry about that or inspections anymore.

If we dont have to have a front license plate in TX anymore, I am taking them off all my vehicles.

i mounted my show and go on the thin heat exchanger bracket. I usually dont have it up (NY). It really depends, id never drill holes though. Its cool without but gives them a reason to stop you also. 50/50 gamble

I have the craigs bracket also, but usually just leave it off. I NY the plate has to be at least 12" off the ground so the guys with the flip up's get tickets anyway!

Live in Texas, they just cleared the front license plate issue in Austin, looks like the boob who wrote the law didnt do a very good job. With that being said, they cops shouldnt write you a ticket for hit but can use that against you to pull you over if they wanted too. If you do get a ticket, the courts will throw it out.

I ordered a removeable front bracket kit from a gentleman on this forum in Norfolk, VA cost was like 40.00. Easy to put on and remove.. If interested, I can find the contact for it.
