Fellows,

Big problem here. Have a 2003 Cobra. 47k miles. Dont drive it too much. In fact, the battery is always dead. Put a new battery the other day. Now car runs like crap. Runs like it is on 3 cylinders.

I have a tune and the diablo tuner....BUT..... since I am between places to live, the tuner is packed in a pod with almost no hope to retrieve. So, without the tuner, I took it to a diagnostic place. Codes are P0602, C18505, U1043, C1223, B1396, B1318. Obviously, these guys cant do anything.... just read codes.

Is it possible that the dead battery -- about 4x before I replaced -- could have messed up the program? When the tech cleared the codes, and then went for a ride, for the first 1000yrd, the car ran normal ( burned the tires through 3rd gear) but, after the stop light, went back to running bad.

Any ideas, anything to do?

Thanks is advance.

I would guess you issue is with factory ECU having to be re-set since you had a dead battery. Similar would happen if you disconnected the battery during a mod install. Here are instructions the per the 2004 Owner's Manual.

1. Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes
2. Reconnect the battery and start the vehicle
3. Let idle until warm
4. Turn A/C on and idle for 5 minutes
5. Drive the vehicle for 10 miles

Try this and I have a feeling once the computer is reset you'll be fine.

CobraBob...... man, I hope this works! Thanks in advance

codes:

P0602 Control Module Programming
C1805 Mismached PCM or ABS
U1043 SCP data fault for traction control
C1223 Brake lamp warning output circuit fault
B1396 Power door lock circuit short
B1318 Low battery voltage module

Really hope the reset scheme works...!

But, I'll take other advice.

Thanks CobraBob.... did this and it seems to run much better. Still has some missing..... but oddly, seem to be getting better each time I run it! Is that possible?

Anyway, thanks SVT group for the help.
