Pretty cool 5-axis CNC work

I'm cnc machinist. I wish i could go work at a machine shop that did other stuff besides oil field stuff. That's all there is here.

oh and running 2 machines at once all night ever nights blows ass. I bet yall guys dont have to do that!:cuss:

That actually exactly what i did, we built and remaned drill pipe and fittings, anything from 2"-14" pipe up to 40' long. It pretty funny/maybe even a little scary watching a 40' long 14" wide piece of pipe spinning a few hunred RMP, lol.

Who does the programing for stuff like this? The artist themselves?
Couldn't it be rendered in a more artist friendly medium like plasticine clay or a CGI device, and then copied by one of these.

Scan data from a 3d scanner should be loadable into a CNC device easily... I would think.

You gotta cut certain materials a certain way. Takes tons of experience not just to write a program, but to make it work.

As we machinist know, it sucks when you CRASH a machine....
