So does it go away after the engine is warmed up? A new belt can still make noise. Also how tight of a belt do you have? Theres an indicator on the belt tensioner. If it doesn't go away after the engine is warm, it could be the belt tensioner.

Does it for about a minute or two,Then goes away. I'm running a Gates 74" belt. I haven't really looked how tight it is by looking at the tensioner... but the only way I could get the belt on is with the removal of the blower pulley and then sliding it onto the snout. It's tight! I got an extra Napa belt I'm gonna try.

I just had that same noise, but tonight one of my idler pulleys exploded and shredded the belt. Time to replace the other idlers, I have the 1 piece billetflow already.

I vote the bearings are going... may not make squeeking noise when you checked them off the car, but you also don't have as much tension on them.

Try spraying it with belt "belt ressing" or water and if the squeak goes away for a second then it's more likely the belt (even though it's a new one). i had a similar issue with gates belts (ran through 2 of them). They would start squeaking a couple months after installation. I've never had one squeak out of the box though; I put a gatorback on and it's been good for more than a year.

Take the blower belt off, start the car for a second and see if it persists. It COULD be the inner belt.

Its your Gates belt. Try taking the belt off and turning it around and re-installing it.

good way to tell.. is spray the inner belt with silicone.. if it squeeks there ya go. if it goes away or you can manipulate the sound that's the issue.. mine's messed up too because of this frigan oil leak

Could be the tensioner / pulley .... mine was recently making a noise similar to that when HOT, replaced the tensioner / pulley and it solved my problem! ...it also happen to be the only "original" pulley on my outer pulley's!

Mine is making the same noise, I figure it's the S/C belt tensioner going bad or one of my idler"s bearings is going bad. I've got a 2.93 pully on the snout and the 4 piece billetflow(1-92mm, 3-100mm) idler set with the billetflow upper idler bracket. I replaced both belts with gates belts, cleaned all the idlers and both tensioners. After all this the squeak was worse. I would like to nail down a proper part number for the S/C tensioner. All I've been finding is the accessory belt tensioner with the smooth idler. Any ideas?

From what I can see comparing the two tensioners, they look exactly the same the only difference is the idler(8-groove vs. smooth), unless they have a different spring tension. Anyone know for sure?

Just a tip that I wish I knew from day 1... if you put the belt onto everything except a smooth idler (in your case, the aux snub idler)... then you won't have to go over ridges... makes it SOOOO much easier.

As far as the noise... I had the chirps that were from glazed over Gates belts but nothing that fast. I'd still change that belt out first as your first troubleshooting step then move onto more expensive options.

If you want to check the idlers on our cars take them off and spin them on your finger. You should be able to feel if the bearings are bad or not from that.

I just replaced my tensioner. The inner and outer are different. Ford sells the outer tensioner but its not listed under a cobra. Our outer tensioner is the same as a lightning. I will see if I can find the part number
