So my friend proposed an idea of driving cars from california to pennsylvania in 2 person per car teams (probably 9 or 10 teams). But there are a few catches.
*$2500-$3000 limit for the race, which includes buying the car (tax, title, registration, insurance as well), flights to Cali, Gas, food, citations, and a couple of other things.
*Once the "race" begins, there is no stopping to sleep in a hotel at hotels, all sleeping would be apart of your trip on the road.
*No GPS, but planning your trip in the weeks leading up to the event is encouraged (as apposed to just drive with a map)
So, my question is: What car would you guys buy thats less than say $800?
So far i have thought of late 1980s-early 1990s Honda Civics (any model), Geo Metro, 90's carollas. don't forget, this car needs to run for over 4000 miles, with a a couple hours downtime at checkpoints (5 total check points.)
