And you wonder why people hate cops....
With all of the new traffic laws that are passing i dont even stop for yall anymore. Ive got a few tickets, but never again. Every cop in the area gives speeding cars "street racing" tickets, so now we all just run. Screw cops! My car got stolen from my house and i tried to stop it and got ran over. 4 hours till a cop came to my house, and i had to beg the office to send one. Cops are worthless to me. All they do is slow down crime.....or in some cases cause accidents. Ive seen and heard of people wrecking on highways because of dumbass cops radaring cars. People dont know what to do..they hit the brakes, and some loose control of their car. So IMO...yall suck.

i saw a car just like yours at the shlby factory,.and yeah i got a ticket by a cop watching a main street that leads to my high school. oddly enough he was in a church parking lot. i didnt see him , he asked why i was driving fast and i said i neeeded to get to school on time and that there was no traffic on this street so i figured i can go a bit faster...he wrote me a ticket and went on his way..****ing prick

same thing happend last year cept my freind was driving me to school in his stang, and he got hit by radar ..same street. what i dont understand is DISD has low graduation rate. and the few guys like me and my freind who are trying to graduate get tickets by cops looking for people on main school roads. suck!

If your spelling skills are any example of the result of you "trying to graduate", then God help us all if you give up completely. LOL - Holy crap, you even misspelled the word "thief" in your signature..........

You really shouldn't post while doing drugs, it effects your ability to speak coherently, not to mention your ability spell beyond a first grade level.

With that said, please enlighten us with your definitions of:

1) "Hard working cop".

2) "Innocent people".

I would submit to you that a traffic officer who issues 25 citations in one day, all legitimate speeding violations is a "hard working cop" and the 25 violators are not innocent people.

It is a crime to speed, a minor one, but a crime none-the-less. In most states it is a crime to operate a radar detector.

Issuing a citation to a speeder who is in possession of an operating radar detector sounds like real police work to me, especially if the officer is assigned to a traffic detail.

When I see cops off-duty obey the speed laws, even once, I'll have more sympathy to your argument. The same cops that fly by you at 15mph over with their family in the car, write you the next day for 8 mph over. :nono: And that's far from an isolated example.

I've also seen you mention in earlier posts about police getting traffic citations from other cops. If that's true where you're from, that's admirable and should be an example for all. However, where I grew up in central NJ, that never happens. A number of people I graduated with are LEOs in NJ (2 are troopers). We've discussed this topic before.

Actually for your point to be treated as valid and worthy of attention it needs to be presented in a cogent manner. It isnt! So I guess the person that made your sig with his "mad skillz yo" went to your high school but didnt graduate either

lol.... now which one was the best radar detector???

The Valentine 1 is the best from my personal experience. I have owned both an Escort Passport 8500 X50 and a Valentine 1. I like the Valentine 1 more than I did the X50.

well tell u what..i just took a trip from norcal to socal in my cobra and its soo easy to be cruising at over 100mph in this car its crazy! My Valentine one saved me on 3 different occasions. It ended up paying for itself trifold in one trip. And it has helped me out before as well.

Its always interesting to see people who often times give up on radar detectors because (a) they've been pulled over after buying it and think they're all junk or (b) been told and threatened enough times to actually believe they aren't worth having.
Every knowledgeble detector user is aware that they are going to get a ticket for certain if they are caught speeding AND the presence of the detector (very important) is known. We live in an age where technology can no longer afford us to buy a Radio Shack or Uniden from Wal-Mart and expect the little noise maker to work with enough distance to be usable against pulse radar. In the radar detector market, you most definitely get what you pay for and the difference can be staggering. I'm always pleasantly reminded ever so often of that first real time I got a chance to explore the boundaries of my V1 and saw on the interstate with my very own eyes it detecting operating radar 4 miles away both front and rear!
Now, I've had some close calls with mine but they were due to my lack of attention and really that is what the basis is for making a good driver IMO. The speeder who doesn't mix C&R with a little extra speed is perhaps on the top of his/her game because they are constantly aware of their surroundings, perpetually scanning the roads. But that same driver should no when to back off and drive appropriately for conditions. That's why I hesitate about recommending a V1 or the like to just anyone because a disciplined driver always puts safety ahead of negligible time saved or the thrill of pushing the envelope.
I've been using a V1 for about 5 years now. Before that I used the cheapos, yet the last speeding ticket I received was going on 14 years ago. Those considering a detector should know the consequences, but IMO if you're going to speed your chances of getting off of a ticket at the law enforcement level is maybe not that good anyway. Use common sense, pay attention and buy the best detector you can afford.

There is one big difference though, between the two Escort 8500 X50 has POP detection and V1 does not. I have been noticing a lot of POP radar lately.

"I love SLAMMING on my brakes when I'm hit with radar, especially when I pick him up a few miles away and know he's there before he can even see my vehicle... even when I'm going the speed limit. It just shows that his "Instant On" isn't as effective as he thinks. Especially when I pick it up 5 miles away."

"On that same note.... I love it when a police car is in the lane next to me shooting the oncoming traffic, so I flash my brights at every oncoming car to let them know he's only a few car lengths behind me. There's nothing like ruining his fun."

I guess I missed that part of driver's training where we were instructed to equate the flashing of high beams to the presence of a police officer working radar...........

I always thought it was because I managed to piss the guy behind me off somehow.

This is what we commonly referred to as "Job Security".

Perhaps in the backwater areas where you live cops don't get tickets, however they do here. I've arrested two for drunk driving over the years and arrested one for filing a false car theft report. If we break the law we should be held accountable, I don't have a problem with that. If we speed and get caught, we should be cited, I don't have a problem with that.

If one of your dumbass neighbors (or you) wrecks their car while attempting to avoid radar, that's their problem, not the officers.

BTW - How did you get run over while attempting to stop a car theft? Guess you tried the the old, "I'll stand in front of the car; that will stop them" trick................similar to taking a knife to a gunfight.

Somehow I think there is more to this story than you are sharing, however I understand that stretching and bending the truth comes easy to some folks.
This is interesting. I have seen you post several times now about citing cops for infractions. Do you think your stance on this is in the vast minority?? I ask because I have a close family member who used to be an LA County Deputy Sheriff and now works for the Detroit Police Department. I'll admit I don't care for his driving style. He drives very agressively, speeds almost all the time, changes lanes without using blinkers, etc. One time, the cop had trouble catching him because he was going so fast in a certain top of the line Chevy sports car. The thing is, he has never received one ticket any time he has been pulled over. I would say he's been pulled over somewhere around 5-10 times since I have known him...and not one ticket. It seems like this is just some sort of unwritten rule.

Hell, I actually agree with the rule of cops getting a get out of jail free card. I consider one of the perks of doing a noble civil service as your job.

I do like to write speeding tickets. What's wrong with that? Speeding is dangerous, just like DUI and running red lights and stop signs. Everyone wants to play "the game" but when we catch them once they want to cry and whine about it. Of course, they will happily come onto a board and brag about how many tickets they have gotten out of and avoided. Double standard.

And if I'm "asking for trouble" by saying I like to do my job, then so be it. I will still be writing tickets, in fact, I wrote 9 last night, which is a very low number for me. Fortunately, there are thousands of officers like me that continue doing what we are suppose to be doing to spite ignorant citizens like yourself.

If I was a cop, I would love to write speeding tickets and all sort of other traffic tickets too. It must be nice to give some of those idiots on the road a wake up call sometimes.

I would again like to thank the highly educated and mature youth of America for my insurance rates. I don't know why those evil, greedy companies would want to charge us more when we have fine, upstanding people, who are NOT degenerates, like yourselves driving a motor vehicle.

I would also like to thank the schools you two attended. They seem to have did a fine job, like your parents have, and I DON'T think the taxpayers in your state deserve and immediate refund. I also don't understand why the schoolboard asked for a mulligan for you two. :??: :??:

The latest version of the V1 detector ships with full POP capability. I recieved a letter inside of my new V1 stating the new implementation of the POP mode into their latest software release. It is personally signed by Mike Valentine. With this POP implementation into the latest V1's, the Valentine 1 detector is once again top of the line.

Getting back on track, I feel whether or not radar detectors can save you some money depends on the driver. I don't think it would save me any money because I know where all the speed traps tend to be in my area, so I am extra careful. As for the areas I am not familiar with, heh, well I don't speed there either. Granted, I drive a big, slow, mobile heap of metal, but even when I had my Z I was careful. Having a minimal understanding of mathematics helps as well...I can calculate how incredibly asinine it would be for me to go 10 over the limit and risk hundreds of dollars in fines when I am only traveling 10 miles to my destination. Throw a couple stop lights into the mix and some unlucky traffic and the guy doing the speed limit can easily make it to his destination faster than the guy speeding. What exactly is the thrill of consistently going over the speed limit when it offers no discernable reward what so ever?

I would agree with you when going when Point A and Point B are that close. I have done the trip from Dallas to Minneapolis a few times though, and driving the speed limit means that the trip would have to be done in two days instead of one. In the process, I'm paying for a hotel between here and there and the again on the way back. Speeding (not insanely speeding, but over the speed limit none the less) allows me to accomplish the trip in one day. In my case, it saves me about $200.00 in Hotel rooms to speed.

I'm guessing if you were a rapist you would want me to leave you alone and go arrest all those speeders.... can't please everybody...

WOW is this guy serious? What a stupid ass comment. Putting speeders and rapists in the same category, if I were a rapist I would want you to beat my ass, but if I’m going 5 over in a 55 on a 2 lane road late at night let it GO. Get a life, don’t ever mention rapists and speeders in the same sentence again, I know I won’t. One is a felony crime that could carry a life sentence and a misdemeanor that carry’s maybe a large fine.
