Will 2012 gt500 recaro seats be a direct swap into a 2013 gt500? Will an airbag light show up? Thanks!
This is correct, you need to swap the passenger occupancy sensor, which is an air bladder under the seat foam. That bladder plugs into a module that’s riveted to the seat frame. You’ll also need to drill out the rivers and swap that module to your new seat as well. They mixed and matched part numbers like crazy in the 10-14 years. Every year I think something is different; connectors, bags, etc. The weight sensor in the passenger seat is something to look into also. In some cases you have to swap the main control unit under the console. I eventually gave up and just live with the light (‘12 seats into my ‘10).
I just did the swap, and only swapped the bladder. The weight sensors were not swapped. My stock convertible seats were not used for the swapped. I ended up buying a 2011 GT seat and used that bladder on the 2014 Mustang GT Recaro's. No issues or check engine lights.
