Christ, you click the bottome of the remote where batteries would normally go. The cup is under the remote on the end table, 2nd shelf.

I know right, those are the easiest parts of the whole game! I had to figure that bastard out with not the first hint. Pissed me off to no end but when I finally got it I was proud that i had finally beaten but pissed at how it was so easy after the fact and it took me so long to overcome it.
