George,

Any idea as to when the new shifters will be shipping? Also do you have any test cases on cars that definitely had the 1-2 grind/lockout before and no problems after the new design shifter was installed?

Thanks,

I just talked to Tremec and he is checking on it. But i think i might be confusing the corvette with the gt500 we went thru this for so long back then i believe i have them mixed.... but he did say he still thinks the 2007 was the t56 spec. but i'll find out for sure...

George

To my knowledge as well the 07 to current GT500's all got the TR6060. My buddy has an 06 Z06 and it has a t56. The 07 (maybe the 08) Z06's got the TR6060.

Has anyone ever gone so far as to have the ratios changed in our cars. One of the first things I noticed while driving this car is how large the gap is between first and 2nd. Compared to other TR6060 equipped vehicles, the 07-12 GT500's have the largest ratio change from 1st to 2nd. Would making a change to a 2.10 2nd and a 1.46 3rd like the G8 and Challenger help out? Seems like it would as you'd be giving the synchros less work to try and do.

I doubt anyone has, but it's something that I've thought about for a few years now. The problem is that swapping cogs out in the transmission would probably be nearly as expensive as just buying a whole new transmission with better ratios. When the '13 came out, I wondered what benefits the '11/'12 would have if the cogs were switched to match the '13 cogs. Even though the '13 has much more power, the taller gearing in the transmission and rear end make it less apt to blow off the rear tires from a stop.

Best way I avoid the 2nd gear grind is pull out hard in first gear, almost to redline, stomp the clutch to the floor, count to "1", then pull on the gear shifter to engage 2nd. Just not made to rush that shift, and I play the cards that were dealt.
