Car made 395RWHP 379RWTQ stock and 400RWHP with the gibson cat back...happy with the stock numbers but expecting a bit more for the cat back...Gibson advertises a 32HP gain on the LMR website...exhaust sounds great and is much louder than stock. Stock catback weighed in at 72lbs!!! It is one big ugly piece and is only held in with 2 bolts...comes off in just a few minutes. Here are a few pics...

they should be sued for claiming over 30hp for a catback...5hp is weak...even gt500 mufflers make 8hp over stock gt mufflers....

Lrs car got around 15rwhp if I remember correctly. I was actually there that day when they dyno'd it. No trickery.

Your stock numbers were pretty good to begin with. A lot higher than most have put up it seems. Even for GT500's the cat back is mostly to change the sound. The X or H pipe as well. For us it does not add as much. Now change the stock manifolds and go to LT's and now it will open up. Again, that is on a GT500.

For the 15's i am sure you gain some...because that stock setup looks restricted. Even so, the weight savings will = better times at the track so its not a waste IMO.

I think this is like the Boss Claiming 60 whp increases over the GT intake. It wasnt peak gains they were measuring, but curve gains, what does the whole graph look like? Still, 395 stock is STOUT

Did you weigh the Gibson by any chance? Curious to see the difference. I've heard that some of the aftermarket cat backs weigh roughly 30 lbs less than stock.

Edit: off topic, but does anyone know how much the Boss side exhaust weighs? I've seen that they're making it for the S550 as well... I love the sound of the Boss exhaust.

Not for nothing, but since when have catbacks really increased power? Or was noticable. Everyone really buys them for sound, any extra power you gain is really just an added bonus.

But them claiming 30 hp is silly, I would never believe that anyways.

tangent or
hoenslty getting any more than 5-8hp peak is proabbly not in the cards for a catback. Some change the power curve a bit and so manufacturers use that to report a gain. that 30hp number from LMR was not peak power but under the curve.

what you really want is averagel HP increase if you want to know if the car will really be any faster. Catback or more for sound. if you happy with the sound and gained average power it is a good day on a catback.
