I was wondering if anyone knows of clearance or other issues with putting 305/35 18 radial street drag tires on a 2007 GT-500 with stock 9.5 rims. I appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks!

I had that set up before i got the stock wheels widened. It does work, but im pretty sure you have to grind off the bump stop bracket. That size tire on stock wheels does bulge a little....

The 305/35R18 requires a 10" minimum rim to be compliant with M/T specifications. I just installed the 305/45R18 on my stock rims which is rated for a 9.5" minimum rim. I wanted the taller tire to fill in the well gap for looks but also was thinking that the taller tire offers more sidewall when launching with low tire pressures. Sidewall and width improve traction so I went with spec compliance. I also based my decision on a 3.73 rear.

Kostas,
How much did you widen the stock rear wheels and who performed the work?
Did you need spacers to move the wheel out? Other modifications needed?

Thanks for input guys!!

Heck, I didn't have to remove the bump stops from my 2009, even with 345/35/18 on an 18x11" widened stock wheel (Weldcraft wheels did the work). Although, your car would have to be lowered at least an inch, requires an adjustable panhard rod, and removal of the shock boot.

Stock width wheel with 305s will bolt right up, zero mods required.

I went thru 2 sets of Nitto 555R 305/40 18's and loved them. I now have NT05R 305/45 18's and LOVE them even more. Traction in first gear is amazing and they ride smooth. Mine is lowered on FRPP's.

running the 305/35 18 555R's. only thing you will run into is a softer sidewall.
