For those of you that wanted to know the out come well here is your chance. The motor was cranked for the first time last night and we did some break in driving and some tuning.
We are waiting for my new JLT setup for some final tuning. The new JLT takes the MAF out of the fender and runs a larger 12" filter in the fender. The new intake requires a new tune so we figured we would do some tuning last night and some after the intake is installed.
On April 9th was my last tune and that is what I will compare it to. With only 10 miles on my new motor and reading 94 degrees outside I gained 27.9 rwtq and 24.9 rwtq.
Old numbers: 468.8 rwhp / 473.5 rwtq / 75 degrees outside or something like that (I forget the exact temp)!
New numbers: 496.7 / 497.1 / 94 degrees outside temp! Too damn hot!
We predicted 20 rwhp and 20 rwtq gain from the stroker. Remember this is with stock cams and stock heads. With some new tuning later in the week we are hoping for some more power. We are starting to wonder if I have a bad port from Steig. Mistakes do happen. The blower has never made the power it was supposed to. Before the port and before I added a lower, I had 464 rwhp and 480 rwtq with just a 2.8 upper. Did I gain from the stroker so far??? With out a doubt I did. Would I gain more with a different ported blower? Possibly! Would I gain more with a whipple? Hell yes!
