Let me begin by bowing out and saying im a noob to mod motors and termintators.

Im looking into some lowering springs for my 03 cobra. Is there a brand that you guys recomend or any that i should stay away from. other then street driving the car will see the drag strip as ive never been into cornering. i had plans to get some qa1s when i lower the car also.
i will note that i plan to add a kenne bell 2.8 over the summer or in the fall, idk if making more power would change the options also.

And i appologize for the short hand typing, i only have a tablet to type from so it tends to get abreviated

+1 on H&R's. They were on my car when I bought it and many people on this site run them and seem to love them. Take both ISO's out and the car sits PERFECT. If you look at my sig that H&R sports with all ISO's in, I'll be taking them out soon.

How much more will it drop w/o iso? it looks good now and i imagine would be just right when i get dif. Wheels for street use. (tf 18" chicanes)

Nothing against cutting springs, ive just heard bad things about it. Its not that much money to lower it.

OP I don't have a picture but I'm sure someone will chine in with one. My car looks pretty low in my sig but with the ISO's out the car is slammed. And don't worry about cutting stock springs. It's completley fine. Many people on this site do it and some of the best standing Terminators I have ever seen have cut stock springs.

There is no reason to install springs and remove ISO's to accomplish the look.

Here is my old CO Cobra with 1 coil cut all around and ISO's in. The car rode like stock and got compliments everywhere.

Red that does look damn good. did you just use a sawzall? I really dont know what ill do but that looks damn good!

If I remember correctly, I think I just used a cut-off wheel on a 4" grinder. I took a string and wrap it around 1 full coil, measured the string, cut it at 3/4 length, then mark the coil using that as a guide. Here are a couple pics of mine with 3/4 coil cut off. I've been considering taking a little more out of the front coils though...sometimes I'm just not quite happy with the stance at certain angles.

I'd say if your just going for looks then cut the stockers. If you want a more aggressive spring rate which in turn could help reduce wheelhop go with the H&R race springs.

A good set of springs is part of any solid build. HR race, Steeda sport, Eibach are all good picks. Start with the list and research..

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/suspension-modifications-211/365383-spring-rate.html

Maximum motorsports is a great place to get some top suspension mods.

See that's what I was worried about with cutting them, won't it screw up the spring rate? After looking around today I'm leaning torward the hr race springs. I'll check out mm and see what options they have before I do anything.

Are the qa1 shocks worth the money they cost or is thr a common cheaper solution that works good for a street/ track car. I'm aware its hard to have the best of both worlds but wonder what other people have gone with.

I never recommend cutting the stock springs because doing so affects the spring geometry to some degree, but as you can see from Red Turtle's car it surely looks awesome. And like him, the vast majority of those who do it don't report any suspension/handling/ride issues.
