Took in the 03 for routine service today and my draw dropped
when I pulled in. Just sitting there was a 05 Saleen 281 looking
real good. Checked my car in and started talking to my service advisor
and he started telling me the 03 04 would clean its clock in a straight
line stock. Next thing I knew he throws me a pair of keys and says lets go  The first thing I checked was the sticker, $41,200 with
a $10,000 (market adjustment) came out to $51,200  .
Anyways it was loaded, 20inch Saleen rims, duel middle exaust with
a all new back end which looked great. A shit load of suspension work,
and subtle ground effects also looked real nice along with the big foglights
and front grill that was swaped for smaller ones. The car was simply
incredible, handled like a car on a mision and got of the line better than I
thought. But he was right about the 03 04 getting the nod in a straight line
and the low end Tq. Anyways I asked him about the 06 07 Cobra and he
told me when the Reps from Saleen and Ford were there going over the cars they told him it will be the 5.4 with an undecided TWIN SCREW! I know things
may change and this is hear say but he told me to expect the Cobra too hit
the streets with 450 -500 hp stock with very low boost. Sorry about the
long post and this has prob been talked about on this forum but that car
got me really stoked on how the new Cobra may look and feel.

I dont think it would matter what the new Cobra has under the hood, as long as it looks like the new Mustang I won't even consider it.

Dont usually take my camera to work so no pics.
As for the blowing smoke part the guy who told me is not in sales, he was
just relaying what was told to him by some big wigs. I dont see the big deal,
I for one believe it will be the 5.4 blown for the Cobra since its basically
the next step .Whatever the case that Saleen looked and drove very
much like I would whant the new Cobra to do.

Wow, $51,200!!! I hope that was for a S281-SC. I seen in the new SVT enthusiast mag that the S281-E would have 500 hp and sticker for $53,000. I wonder what the "market adjustment" for that baby will be.

The next step woud be a 4 valve 4.6 with a twin screw. No way they will put a $150,000 ford GT motor in a cobra no matter how detuned it is.

They spent a crap load designing that motor and they are going to use it. Ford doesnt care about screwing previous customers, just ask the 00R owners.

March 25th at the NY auto show -- SVT has announced they will unveil the next SVT Mustang. So maybe we can end the speculation and start drooling over reality :).

I have a Mustang Monthly from a few months ago where they interviewed Coletti and they asked him about the Ford GT showing up in other vehicles. His reply, "You don't think we built that engine for only one purpose do you?". The new L is off the table and they are putting heavy emphasis on the next gen. Cobra. Ford will make the new Cobra have the next Z06/07 and Viper right in it's sights power wise and the handling gap will be a lot closer.

I like the new body and when the aftermarket and SVT get a few months working on them they will be one of the best looking Mustangs ever made.
