I have been making an effort to go to the track nearly each week since September to see if my car can get to the point where I want it: to run a 9.99 second pass at 140+ mph.

With the exception of last Sunday (October 16th), I have managed to post a new personal best every time that I have been to the track. Here is the breakdown of my progress:

9/9/11: 11.2 second 1/4 mile pass with street tune and drag radials;
9/10/11: 10.818 at 128.95 mph (with stock front tires and drag radials);
9/23/11: 10.792 at 136.23 mph (with front skinny bias ply's and drag radials);
10/2/11: 10.447 at 134.52 mph (different spark plugs and rear seat removal);

I put on slicks and removed the front passenger seat on 10/16/11. Also had front sway bar removed. Turned out that I didn't get the tires hot enough and was also running a bit too low tire pressure. Didn't succeed on getting below the 10.4's on October 16th.

I got one step closer to running 9's yesterday, running a new personal best of 10.255 at 139.66 mph, with only a 1.644 60 foot and a 6.702 1/8th mile @109.55 mph. Correct tire pressure and big burnout in 2nd gear at 70 mph. My car produced the most smoke of any car that I saw at the track :)

If I can get a 60 foot in the low-mid 1.5 range, I think my car has a legit chance to run a time somewhere in the 9.99 to 10.1 range. A 60 foot in the high 1.4's should put me at the desired 9.99 pass.

I have extended thanks to the board members that have offered their advice elsewhere, but I would like to say again how awesome it is that people are willing to share their advice and experiences here. Thanks to all that I have corresponded with about tires, traction, and 60 foots.

I will continue updating this thread with my progress, in hopes that there will be some more before the race season comes to a close. At this point, I am loving my car and I am feeling good about the possibility of a 9.99 pass being just within reach :rockon:

Very nice job! You're getting close! That 139.66 MPH indicates that the power is there. Gotta just get it to the ground and like you said, get that 60' down a bit more.

Proof

Here is a quick video I took of the slips:

[nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fds0okVAJ7g"]HDV 0007 - YouTube[/nomedia]

Didn't have anyone shoot video today, and since I was running with my time off, there wouldn't have been much to see but my monster burnouts and quick acceleration down the track. I suppose you could have seen my car absolutely demolish a ZO6 :)

The slip guy cut my slips in half because I was running with times off. Here are my 330 times with my three best passes that I had on Saturday, October 22nd:

- 330 was a 4.457 on my 10.255 pass
- 330 was a 4.474 on my 10.362 pass
- 330 was a 4.521 on my 10.525 pass

Would be happy to reveal my full list of mods if you are willing to do the same :beer:

Jon does my tunes also, the race tune I use is for C16 and has 24.5 degrees of total timing. What is your total timing? Thanks , Tom

Top secret :D

Thanks IronTerp

Thanks IronTerp. At least I am headed in the right direction with the 60 foots. Managed to run three consecutive 60 foots in the 1.6's on Saturday (see youtube video of the slips above for reference). Obviously, this is still not ideal, but I will keep chipping away at that 60 :pepper:

If you run the ET Streets, pulling a 1.5X 60' shouldn't be a problem. 139mph is good for a 9.80 pass. Sounds like you got a beast!

Nice work, I'm glad I could lend an ear and some insight Alex! The car is hustl'in down the track! I'd say if you can go sub-1.4X 60' that it will net you a 9 sec pass for sure!Good luck!

Tires

Thanks Ernie. I was 10.4's Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials. I have now made the move to Hoosier 28 x 10.5 x 15 Stiff Sidewall Drag Slicks. Will continue to work on getting the 60 foot under the 1.6 range.

Thx Shift King

Your willingness to offer good, sound advice is always much appreciated Andy. Was able to put your words of wisdom to some good use on Saturday.

Thanks Shift King!
