Without getting into all the details, it's getting closer for me to buy another toy and I really don't know what I want just yet. I figured I would start a thread and see what some of you thought on here....

Keep in mind I've had lots of Mustangs so I was looking to try something new/different than my past. The car will be a nice weather cruiser for meets/gatherings with occasional 1/4-mile, auto-x, and (rare) road course.

It would be nice to take my wife/child along so we don't have to drive two vehicles but 4-seats is NOT a requirement. With that in mind I've always wanted a Viper but really am affraid I won't like it...

Otherwise this is what I'm looking at so far. Feel free to add something else to look at but I do NOT want a Z06/ZR1. I have several friends with them and see them often so I would like something different...

Ideas (NOT actual cars I would be buying, just color choices):

No contest - GTR, apples to oranges with the other rides.. Technologically, its more advanced than all the other put together..

That thing is leaps and bounds from anything on your "have owned" sig, you probably wont even want to get out of it.. lol..

GL with your purchase!

Honestly....I disagree....Go Porsche 996TT....It s a beautiful car, it has incredible build, technology, and handling ...the quality is superb, and you could take your wife out to diner or what have you....and you dont see to many of them...modified at least anyway.

The people that I know in my Porsche club could not be any happier with them...

The GTR in the looks department is so so..Kind of like the Nissan 200 from the 90's.......Ehhh...

I voted other...

viper is a pos worthless pile of crap. handles like crap, rides like crap typical dodge

996. no thank you $5000 maintance bills

gtr... 1 track pass on launch control no warranty. 3 track passes on launch control $15000 transmissionno warranty... pass

shebly... cool but not worth it

If your a baller like that. ZR1@ 0% financing x 72 months with gmac. there is a reason why your friends have them. best abng for the buck. 30MPG 600+hp and 100K warranty factory!!! I have nitrous on my C6Z and still goes right through warranty w/o any bitching from GM.

or... ariel atom :)

goodluck in whatever you decide

I can't help but laugh at your comments.

The Viper is not Porsche quality inside but the handling is pretty good! Beats the Z06/ZR1 in a lot of tests even. ZR1 does have better brakes though...

The 996 is a little pricey but who takes anything to the dealer these days?

You realize that they have redone the launch control on the GTR right? Only the first year had that option and they aren't breaking like you think. Plenty in the 9's/10's with no problems...

I voted "other" as well. I think you should consider the Ariel Atom. Most fun you'll ever have on 4 wheels imo.

I could throw some cars out there. Turbo nsx, m5, lotus esprit tt, Ultima gtr, Ariel Atom. Out of the list, 996 turbo.
