Id like to see a show of hands who have actually blown up / broke a rod on a e85 fueled 13/14 gt500 with a stock blower ect. At around 750-830 rear wheel horsepower I bet there isn't many if any at all. I'm willing to bet that most of the problem is the person behind the wheel (running shit gas, bouncing it off the rev limiter, not letting it be at operating temp before beating the piss out of it, hot plugs, not paying attention to audible knock, not doing general maintenance on the fuel filter, cheaping out on shit like injectors and tuning ect). Face the facts you can buy a gt500 but you cant buy common sense.

You definitely want to avoid the rev limiter at all cost with mod motors, that's what breaks timing components. Maybe install a shift light that comes on 6,500 so you know when you're getting close. Obviously with the built engine you'll be able to shift at 7k without issues.I agree fully.

I just need to better educate myself on what my car is / is not capable of doing with the set up I have. This is ultimately where I failed and now I’m paying the price; literally. Looking like $17K
I need to look into putting a rev-limiter on this thing. I remember the easy days when I could slap in a MSD ignition on my 91LX and change the little pills out . Is that an option on this one??.

I would go to JDM engineering before i would get a L&M motor or MMR.
Great advice. I actually have that exact list of parts left over from going full Fore return if anyone wants to get serious and go E85.My E85 setup is a KB 20 Volt BAP, ID1300 injectors, fore fuel rails and a Canton fuel filter.

I have heard nothing but good things about the JDM 5.8!!I remember what happened to the guy with that L&M motor,and its just a six had nothing but problems with a mmr motor.My JDM 5.8 has been perfect with a recent perfect oil analysis after several years at 1000rwhp.
My stock engine had an oil pump gear failure but I was also pushing it and had some 7300rpm shift flairs (racing at track so I was pushing it).
For guys staying 100% stock longblocks I’ve also said 750-800rwhp on E85 or good fuel is relatively safe.
Respect octane and RPM and the factory 5.8s can take big power.

Yea,just to put this out there i dont have a 5.8 done from JDM.Just looking at them and others,JDM seems to be very good,with no issues.I do plan on getting their cams though.I have heard nothing but bad from MMR but never heard anything from L&M. JDM is a great price for the offer for sure and I might go that rout.

With all due respect, you haven't been here long enough. I've seen/heard decidely mixed reports and widely varied opinions regarding L&M. A lot of the relevant info disappeared from the site but, before you spend a lot of money with them, spend some time with Google and ask @Bad Company for the Cliff Notes version of his experience.I have heard nothing but bad from MMR but never heard anything from L&M. This is the first time I heard anything and sounds to be about other than the V8 engines they make.
You cannot go wrong with JDM. Who else gives you a years warranty on a built engine as long as you not detonate it? Almost six year's later after the build I have not touched a wrench on my car other than to change plugs and oil. Did JDM sleeve your engine? Or do they use the factory plasma coated cylinder walls. I've looked at there short blocks and considered buying one a couple times. I haven't heard much negative about L&M other than one member on here, but I think it had more to do with the shop that did the work than L&M. But that thread has been deleted so I don't remember everything that happened. I've definitely heard more negative about MMR than good. I've never heard anything negative about JDM engineering. They seem to be the best.I might have never sign on in SVT until 2020 but I have been in the S197 scene since 2009. L&M like any other big mustangs machine shop will have those usual issues with the one off customers but reputation in various forums not just SVT is mostly good, like I said this is the first time I personally heard of any bad experience. That doesn't mean there are none. In comparison MMR is nothing but bad experience and customer service is horrible in just about all Mustang forums is the same feedback. As far as my personal project JDM is my future choice along with Modular Head Shop for heads and cams. JDM even recommended them as their liaison for 5.8 builds.
