well, if I were to go extreme with weight reduction for road racing purposes... what options/parts are available to replace? I have a 2003 Mustang GT, coupe with a terminator motor.

here's what I have sofar:
-no stereo
-no a/c
-no carpet
-no interior panels (except dash&doorpanels)
-cowl hood
-odissey race battery
-tubular a-arms
-teksid block
-aluminum driveshaft
-corbeau cr1 reclining passenger seat
-sparco evo3 fixed back driver seat
-removed tar-mats (working on)

things I have in mind:
-lexan rear and side windows
-carbonfiber trunklid
-tubular k-member
-lighter wheels

any ideas/suggestions on what else I could get rid of/swap out?

Wow, that sounds like a good start. :D

I assume you've removed rear seat and seat belts.
What about the dampener on the bottom of the diff?
All aluminum radiator lightens the front.

Good luck.

no rear seat, no seat belts. got a fluidyne radiator to :)

still have the dampener on the diff.. does it affect the car in anyway when removing it? I heard of a couple of drag racers removing it but never thought about it.

I haven't removed mine, but its just a street car I take on track.
I've had a couple mechanics say I could remove it and wouldn't notice.
Let's see what others say.

got a fluidyne radiator

That's more weight... the good kinda weight :) .. same as more oil :)

This is my wish list (I got some already):

CF Hood
CF Trunk
No Carpet
No Radio + Cables
No Cats
Alum. Block
K-member/Arms
Lightweight Bellhousing
Mini-Starter
CF Fenders
CF Roof
Transmission (Jerico or GForce)
Driver Seat with custom fixed brackets
No Pass seat
No Dash
Lexan windows
Aluminum Front Bumper Supp.
Aluminum Rear Bumper Supp.
No Door glass
Alum. Oil pan
Rear rotors 2-pieces
Clutch (and Pressure plate) & Flywheel
Underdrive Pullies
RPF1 Wheels

Probably around $30K

EDIT: My dampener was gone after 1 month of owning the car, never noticed a difference. Granted, my car used to be loud.

Yes it affects the car. Makes it lighter and faster! ;-):poke::p

2pc rotors and lighter racing seats will also help reduce weight.

2 piece rotors... are they available for the stock cobra calipers? non-slotted, non-drilled would be best cause inspection here is a pita.

Are you going for street terror or race car?
Get a rulebook for whatever group you plan to race with over there.
Over here in SCCA, A/Sedan rules are different from T-2 (Shelby and Mustang GT with Shelby parts) and NASA rules for AI and AIX are even mo different.
Then you have to add back the rollcage, fire bottle, 2 way radio, video camera, Cool Shirt cooler...and ballast. ;^)

I do have to have a full rollcage, fia approved seats, harness, fire extinguisher, emergency shutoff and front and rear tow hooks. no ballast, lol.

right now I just want to get the car back on the street and drive it, I will try to get it up to race specs for 2009 hill climb racing.

Cool
We don't do as many hillclimbs in the US as Europe, but we do have a 4 race series in the South East US.
A good racing buddy of mine, Rich Shafer with Cool Shirts, is a sponsor as well as competitor. http://www.coolshirt.net/about-cool-shirt.html
BTW, my wife sells these. shameless plug

excuse my not perfect English, what I ment is that I need all the stuff above to get the car legal for racing but unfortunately I don't have anything yet. that's why I said I need to get the car back on the street first and then I'll start buying the other parts.
