Me and my girlfriend were hunting for a 99-04 Mustang GT for her yesterday. While I was at it, I also did some hunting for my own GT500. We were basically shopping for cars for ourself. I also saw a middle age women stalled 4 times at Arlington VA with a BRAND NEW Shelby GT (325HP version) at stop light. She wouldn't pull up next to me at a red light because I was going to light her up in my LS2 GTO. She stayed 1 car length behind.

Here's the most interesting and funniest story of the day at apple ford at Columbia, MD. They also have a Shelby GT in stock at 10k ADM in showroom for those who interested. The manager told me that they are buying Shelby coupe @ 10-11k over sticker price from other dealers and resell them at 15k over sticker to make quick 3-4k bux. :bash: I gave apple Ford my piece that 60k is at vette's z06 territory and Z06 = better car. He reponsed with me that "corvette is a production car" while GT500 is a "special made" car with limited production. I reminded him about 8k-10k a year for 4-5 years anouncement from Ford. Ford will make about 40k Shelby when it is all done. Last time I saw GTO production from 04-06 was only 45k with 15k for 04, 12k for 05 and 13k for 06. My Blue M6 GTO is only one of 1577 blue for year 2006. My friend who bought a F-150 a truck from them on Saturday said he saw two GT500 pulled out of Apple Ford lot this past weekend. Saleman told him that they paid 60k for them. 60k would be 15k over sticker so it is independent source to verify that it is true. Dealers are buying and selling like stock.

Bob Bell Ford = they last sold a coupe @ 10k over sticker a month or so ago and they just sold a Converible at only 5k over sticker. Saleman was pretty good guy. He told me something interesting that converible ADM is coming down quicker than coupe because 9 out of 10 guys want a coupe.

Lindsey Ford at Wheaton told me that they got 1 GT500 so far and it was sold to a "owner's friend" at an "undisclosed price". :bash:

Then I went to Norris Ford and they told me that they have list of people of 25 at 10k over sticker for GT500. No MSRP list. Norris Ford CURRENTLY has a Shelby GT at 10k ADM in the show room in stock. Too bad I want more than 325 HP. It is a nice looking car but it is not for me.

they are still asking 20k over for a convertible gt500 here just sold a coupe for 20k over, and they just got a shelby gt in the show room asking 15k over for it. but you can get two new 04 saleens for 12k off sticker each and they have 3 427r roushs he tried to get me to trade my 03 cobra in for. I said no thanks but call me when I can get a gt500 coupe for x-plan and I'll be in within the hour. I bought my lightning from there. great place but the adms. I said x-plan because they have alredy made more then enough on these cars. to bad for reinburst the dealers who sell for fords plans.

You guys missed the ADM train, I have a G.T 500 Bought it last Sept, and I also have a Shelby G.T, well the wife does, and I can tell you, if your GTO is stock it won't stand a chance aginst the Shelby G.T. It hauls ass. I know it only has a few mods, But if you ask me it is the car to Buy, I actually think i prefer it to my 500, But don't tell the wife, She paid Close to sticker for hers. And where can I get a 07 Z06 For 60K I will take 2, A friend of mine paid 90K for his 07 Z06. I think you are on the wrong site.

I thought you went shopping for your GF...all you talk about above is yourself...so so selfish. Just Kidding :)

On a side note, I was driving to work today and thought I saw a GT500, that was at 100 yards...as I got closer it was a GT, had a horrible spoiler..kind of like the GT500 however it went up about 5" over the decklid, had a GT-H front end and grill, a horrible looking hood, shelby on the trunk and cobra's on the fenders. Oh, and it had some horrible 17" black with polished lip wheels with what looked like 235 series tires front and rear.

Maybe I'll see one soon...

Give it some time. The prices will come down and we'll all be laughing about how much people payed over before too long.

I hate how all of these ass clowns are driving around in the new mustang GT's with these retarded looking body kits thinking they are the hot shit. Really irks me to say the least. One guy had a GT w/the eleanor kit and i pulled up next to him in my escort and he looked over and just nodded his head up and down??? I was like uhhhh? A guy in town just got a Shelby GT, my dad said he waved to him when he was in the GT500... nice lookin car. Im curious to find out how much he paid for it. I don't know if I will ever buy a ford now bc of all of this markup ripoff bullshit they are pulling.

On a side note I had dealership tell me and some friends that there are only 500 Z06's made a year LOL.

I've been to Apple Ford before. My suggestion...stay away. One thing I cannot stand is sales people who have little to no knowledge about the products they are selling.:cuss:

Try Towson Ford and ask for Tony. He's a straight shooter and wont give you a line of B.S. I purchased my 03 Cobra from him. Good luck.

There are many dealers that are selling 07 Z06's at sticker and atleast one selling for $1,000 under. That being said, that's no $60k! However, your friend paid way too much for his Z.

As for an 06 GTO beating a Shelby GT, it is very possible and at the most it would be a drivers race. Saying the GTO "won't stand a chance agianst the Shelby GT" is ignorant.

I have to chuckle when reading some of these posts! We live in a free market society folks! Since when is it OK you to rip a car dealer off by paying under MSRP but it is not OK for the dealer to rip you off by charging more than MSRP? If you had a house worth 200K market value and someone demanded that you sell it to them for 150K would you do it? Get real guys - get a life - either make the committment and pony up the money or move on.

Buying under MSRP is not ripping them off. The cars are price structured to sell between "invoice" and MSRP. Ford knows this and so do the dealers. It is the way the system works.

The home analogy is more like seller wanting 150K, buyer wanting to pay 150k, but, realtor wanting to sell for 200k and making an extra 50k.

This is not a simple free market issue. The dealers are holding out for the big pop. They are misleading customers into thinking that the car is super rare and they won't get one unless they pay 15 over. People get anxious and pay it. When too many dealers have held out and stock becomes common, the price will fall quickly.

We are real, we have a life, we made a commitment. We committed to not giving in to the game of "rip us off." We have seen every hot car go through this same process. You apparently fell for it, got your car a year earlier than the rest of us and are happy with that. The wait sucks, that is why we are bitching. But I can bitch a lot for an extra 15K. When the cars are at MSRP, the ADM payers will look back and realize they paid too much for a car. Same thing happened with the Terms, but, on a smaller scale.

A local tiny "small town" West Virginia dealership down the road from me is on their third GT500. They have had red, blue, and now orange (tangerine, whatever it is). The orange one is still on the lot.

If I were Apple Ford I would have told you to hop on down to the local Chevy dealer and buy that "better" car.

Middle aged woman? Stalled four times? Hum? And you were going to light her ass up. Wow. Kicked any puppies lately. She probably didn't even give you a whiff of notice. I wouldn't have other than laugh at your GTO. To tell ya the truth, a GTO looks like a Honda with dual fart pipes to me. A 300 HP GT is about all a GTO will light up these days.

Are they are making GTO's today? The local Pontiac dealer had 04's on his lot up into early 06. There was a reason, nobody wanted them, well, I guess you excluded. How do they say it, well, "the GTO has a nice interior". My satin silver 03 was the rarest of 03 Cobras.

IMHO maybe your right and everyone else is wrong, but remember life is short and everyday you folks sit here in the forum crying about the evil Ford dealers done you wrong is another day you missed driving in your new Shelby. I started looking for a cheap Shelby over a year ago and gave up in July when I realized it just wasn't gonna happen. I paid more than some but not as much as others and still had to wait another 8 months to get my car. There are few loose Shelbys on ground across the country if your will to settle for whats available but the rest of them have been allocated long ago. I suspect the 08 models are 95% allocated right now and unless someone dies in line, you won't be able to touch one of them. Give it up - Just take out a 2ND mortgage an get it over with.

thats good to hear on the shelby gt. imagine what it would do with a lopey cam, port/polish heads and long tubes....:-D :burnout: at 3400lbs?

i dont think 60k is realistic on a z though i did hear of a few who were purchasing below msrp. one i believe purchased for as much as 1200 below msrp on the z06.

lol, your a funny guy.Imo the car ain't worth 1 penny over msrp.Right now there in high demand but if they make it for at least 3 years as planned your 07 won't be worth sh#t come 08-09 and you will have lost money.I'd like to have the car,but i guess i'm not as desperate as you. Also don't assume people don't have the money because i'm sure many people like myself could easily swing it with the markup, but again the car is not worth it imo.The car is awesome but i for one will not give in and will wait till 09 if need be.

I thought it was a well known fact the Ford/SVT have a two year contract on the GT500 with the thid year optional. Production is expect to be 8k-10k car per year. The third year is considered very unlikely if the Mustang get a makeover in 09. Where did you ever hear 4-5 years?

I interesting market research. I think the prices will continue to drop, but those holding out for MSRP will be GT500-less. There will always be enough people willing to pay a few $1K over.

I don't have to get a 2nd mortgage. I'm getting my car at MSRP, because I was willing to wait. I won't get it until Oct-Dec., but, $15k buys a lot of hankies to cry into.

None of the dealers I have talked to have all of their '08s sold. While this car is special, it is no more special than the hundreds of ADM demanding cars that came before it. They all came down to MSRP or less and so will the GT500. As someone said earlier, even the Z06 is selling at and below sticker. There are fewer of them made each year than the Gt500 and it spanks everything else in its class at half the price or better.
