Hi guys, I recently sold my 02 GT and bought an 04 Cobra.
It only has 15,500 miles on it.
As far as I know its always had oil changes done at the dealership so Im guessing 5w20.
My first oil change I plan on switching to Mobil1 but
not sure if I should go 5w30 or 10w30?

What do you recommend?

Ive been using Amsoil 5w-20 since Ive had the car. Even when I drain the old oil it still looks good.

I usually run 5w20 but today I am going with 5w30. Either one is fine. Oh yeah, mobile 1 full synthetic.

I run Amsoil 2000 0-30. Wheather it's better then any other brand or grade I cannot say

I am not crazy about running thin oil becuase it won't have the film strength of oil with a higher viscocity but like I said "what do I know". The factory engineers would know better then anyone since they designed it and have to stand by their product.

I ran 20-50 oil all season long in New England and had 300,000 miles on the mill when I sold it and the motor ran like new. I would not run that heavy oil in our cars though.

There are a ton of threads on here answering your question.

I just read all of them last Sunday:beer:

After all the research I did, I decided to go with 0w-30 Castrol Syntec. It's what's known as German Castrol since it's made in Germany and is a true synthetic. Most US made "synthetics" are oil based and thus not truly synthetic at all.

A lot of my research also made me decide to run 7 quarts rather than the factory recommended 6.

5w20 if its just a daily driver/weekend cruiser
5w30 if you plan to do any track time in it or put a lot of miles on it.
