3.73 in my solid. I went 130 last week at the track still in 4th around 6200-6300. That was with 275/40/17's. If I add more power down the line, I'll just run a 27 or 28 inch tire to make sure that I won't have to go into 5th.

3.73s here in my built solid. I like them a lot. Had them at 450rwhp, 590rwhp, and at the power level i'm at now.

It used to be my daily driver up until a few months ago, and didn't mind a bit.

Ran it at the track ran 12.2 @119 bad conditins and belt slip but ran to 4th. its also my DD rpms arent bad, milage suffers but its bad enough to not drive! im runnin a 315/35/17 in the rear too. good luck with your decision dude

Maximum traction is your goal. RWHP and gear ratios are inversely proportinal. More power... less gear and vice versa. At 525 rwhp is about midfield. I'd go with 3.73 for that power level.

damn its a close poll between the 3.55's and 3.73's. im still curious to know if my ET will drop when i go to a lower gear from my current 4.10's. i ran 11.72@121 with an idle launch and not power shifting. i tried power shifting and broke a halfshaft.

You'd be very surprised how much of no difference 3.73 to 3.55's make.I noticed none when I went to my eaton true trac and 3.73.Now it whines alot more, don't know if the true trac did that though,I went to the 3.73 to make up the 28" tire difference. And the car makes it through the traps at the top of 4th at about 5800,so it's actually doing really well.GL

if your going to run 28s at the track...4.10s will benefit a lot.

3.73 is a better all around setup though.

Im actually swapping form 4.10s (in there for the last 5 years) to 3.73s bc Im trapping at 6800rpms. Hopefully they don't kill my ET

3.73 with 28" tall tires going thru the traps at 6100rpm @ 139-140 this is on my IRS. My solid I had built has 3.90's in it. Plan on going thru at 141-143 @ 6400-6500. The higher the rpm thru the whole run = more hp = better et/mph.

I actually thought about running the car on a 26" stiffwall et drag once witg the 3.73s. Gearing would be similar to 3.90s

Rule of thumb for tire size, going from a 26" to a 28" tire usually takes away around .4 from the rear end ratio. So running 4.10's with a 28" is like running 3.73's with a 26". So running a 3.73 with 28" tires would be like running 3.27's with a 26" tire.

I love my 327s. Averaging 20.5 mpg to 23.5 mpg, depending on my driving. Usual 60/40 split highway and city. Shifting under 1700 rpms. With a fair amount of idling in traffic. I'm at 170 miles at half a tank right now. Best mileage and performance had been with BP fuel. I always use 4-6 oz of Lucas fuel treatment at every fill up.

Not sure if the Whipple is going to happen, but POSI is in my future for sure. Had 410s, too much for a DD car. Traction was a mother. Just my 2 cents.

All depends on your plans for the car.

3:73's are some badass gears.

I love mine, I highly recommend them to anyone that wants just that little edge.

I love my 3.73s.

+1 just a nice little increase, not too radical, but you can def tell they are there

ford racing has a hotline and you can call them to recommend gear ratio based on your needs. for mine they said go with the 3.73's.

however it is possible that i would have liked 4.10's even better. someday i will try them and find out
