Can't stand G8 owners

X1000.. maybe not ALL G8 owners but the few that I've run into act like it's a CTSV or something. Go on a few LSX websites and they act like the G8 is the second coming. Sure it's a nice car and all but performance wise it's a tiny bump above mediocre. There are certainly other Sedans for the same $ or less that are better.

It's not that fast stock. Throw a tune, headers, and Intake on and it really wakes them up.

It is the nicest car I have ever owned though quality wise and overall experience. Definitely not a peice of shit as someone stated earlier...

As a G8 owner I will be the first to say that I agree with you on some of your points. There have been a few threads I have had to make on the G8 forums basically calling people back into reality when they were talking like they could rape much faster cars. It annoys the shit out of me too.

If I had to guess why some people on the LSx websites brag the G8 so much it is probably because all the things that went wrong with the older 04-07 CTS-V and the 04-06 GTO's were remedied in the G8's. The CTS-V had really weak axles in stock form and the LS6 heads flowed ok. The GTO's had weaker body lines, weak axles, 4 speed auto trans, a fuel system that didn't support as much hp in stock form, and cylinder heads that flowed ok but nothing spectacular. The G8's (yes even the GT's) have much larger axles which break allot less even on power numbers into the 650-700+rwhp range, 6 speed trans that when tuned right will handle allot of power, stock fuel system that will support 475rwhp with zero upgrades and 500-550rwhp with an injector swap, and L92 cylinder heads that in pure stock form flow 312cfm on the intake @.600 lift; and when ported have flowed 371cfm on the intake @.600 lift. The stock shortblocks also handle 600-650rwhp all day long and have held past 700rwhp on a few cars but the limit has not really been tested to see how long they will last at that power level. The biggest thing that limits the G8 GT in stock form is the DOD hardware which requires a dinky cam that totally murders power and the stock tune. Do a cam swap and you are usually picking up at least 75-100rwhp. These cars have went 12.0's with full boltons, 11.3's with boltons and cam swap.

So in stock form they are fairly weak like you say but not many people I know leave em stock. Regardless, there will always be certain owners out there that try to think that their stock G8 will pull a CAI/Pulley/LT/CB/Tune Terminator which is more laughable than tits on a bull.

To come to OP's defense...left lane is a normal lane around here. I regularly pass on the right just normal cruising in the dd, people literally don't move.

I would imagine he was also on the 8 lane interstate...hardly blocking traffic flow.

They definitely have great potential (as do most cars when modded) I would put a lot of the G8 guys in the category as the S197 Stang GT and 10 Camaro SS crowd. For many it's their first modern V8 that they traded into from a 4 or 6 banger and they haven't experienced that type of power- they can't conceptualize a car being faster because they don't have a basis of comparison. They just KNOW their car is fast as hell...... then they get smoked by a modded car (and even some other faster stockers ie, M3, CTSV, Cobra, 11 GT for example) and wonder WTH just happened.

There's a bunch of tools driving around in all types of cars, learn to deal with it. Just because you've had bad experiences with 1 or 2 G8 owners, dont mean they are all like that. I do however understand why you got mad, its annoying to see someone right up on your ass like that. Sunday the gf & i decided to get the Cobra out since it was so nice here. Were cruizing on the xpressway to go see The Rite with Anthony Hopkins in it. So were cruizing in the far left lane at 80mph or so when out of nowhere this white G8 is on my ass. I mean ON MY ASS. At 1st i was like whatever cause i was just relaxin with my girl enjoying the ride. She gets pissed & says leave em baby. I downshift from 6th to 4th & nail it. Instantly pulled & stayed in it to about 130 i guess just to prove a point cause he was trying his best but when your ass gets left behind 7 or 8 cars. Not to bad for a 4th gear pull. Hard to judge from rearview mirror lol. So i shut it down & begin cruizing again hoping he would get beside me so we could go at it from a roll he jumps over in the far right lane and stays over there making sure he didnt get beside me.

Anyway this by no means wasn not a race but even it had been i would have walked all over him. Car has 2.76 pulley, MAFia, BAP, o/r H, 3" Mac catback, new Tousley alternator with 3.2 pulley, new battery, Dynospeed tune, etc..

This isnt the 1st run in either. Last year i was getting gas & this guy kept on eyeing me. He had a G8 as well. We left out at the same time & does a fly by on me. I was already irratated so i pursued. Finally caught up with him on the xpressway. Got him to roll down his window & asked him if he wanted to run that piece of shit. Look on his face was priceless. Went from a 3rd gear roll at 3500 & it was over with. As soon as i nailed it i put my rear bumper to his front & got out of there with the quickness. Pulled to 120 and let out. Let him catch back up & he wouldnt even look my way as he passed lmao

That is what is pictured on my car. Those are gunmetal gray C6 Z06 replica wheels with the Mickeys on the back and Dunlop Direzza Star Specs on front. The bolt pattern is off by literally 0.7 millimeters between a G8 and a Corvette so many of us use Vette wheels.
