It will be the only ticket on my record all the others have been reduced to non moving violations.
Damn... have much trouble with the law and your car do ya?
Is there a proper way to handle that? I've always been stupid and just been honest... while I've never been caught doing anything as extreme as the OP is there a way to say 'I don't want to answer that question' without pissing the officer off and getting into more trouble?

If I'm going over 100 and a cop is sitting there I NEVER take my foot out of it no if ands or buts..this may sound stupid but with the amount of time it takes the cop car to either a.) turn around or b.) get up to your speed he will have lost sight of you and once they lose sight of you they normally stop pursuit

Lol it's my first time even getting pulled over in this car and iv been ticket free for about 4 years but back in high school I was getting tickets left and right lots of seatbelt tickets and few c&i and 2 other speeding tickets.

That's exactly what I would have done but I didn't see the cop so I slowed back down to 70 and put the cruise on. Then about 5 min later a see him about 100 yards back without his lights on. Then he followed me for a min or 2 then flipped his lights on.

If you show up to court and say "I take responsibility for what I've done" I guarantee the ticket will not be dismissed.

Therefore, taking responsibility for what you have done means you are accepting the consequences for your actions. Which clearly you are not.

I don't blame you for trying to get the ticket thrown out or reduced. Just stop saying you are taking responsibility for what you've done.

you could still take responsibility for what you did and try and get a reduced penalty. I'm hoping to pay an increased fine but keep my license and get a no same/similar to keep it off my driving record for insurance purposes.

Was curious because you mentioned many seatbelt tickets when you were younger. In Missouri, a seatbelt violation is a secondary offense' which means you were doing something else illegal to get stopped on top of that.

That is correct but they always used bullshit reasons to pull me over like lisence plate lite not working when it is which has happened to me twice. And when I first got my GTO I was pulled over for a headlight being out and I asked the cop are you sure it's out? Cuz it looks like it's on to me. So then he walks up to the front of the car and sees all of my lights are working and says huh it's on now that's weird. I used to get pulled over all the time cuz I'm young and have a sports car but I'm sure some of those times I was messing around doing burnouts and dumb shit

I'm young, have a sports car, and have never been pulled over (knock on wood) because I make sure my vehicle meets all the equipment requirements..

This doesn't work where the distance across the state is more than 50 miles. :D

sounds great and fine and all. In my case the cop was on the on ramp on the back side of the overpass already accelrating to get on the highway. I was already slowing when i saw him in my rearview right on my tail. worst circumnstance ever for getting pulled over.

Yeah I'm sure alot of the times I have been pulled over there was a legit reason but a few were bullshit reasons. But I live in a pretty small town so I guess the cops get bored lol idk.

I supposed you panicked about going to jail which is understandable. If the cop didn't clock you he doesn't stand a good chance against an attorney. I would still look into an a lawyer cause it could get ugly.

Yeah I have never been pulled over going that fast before and I had no idea what he clocked me at so I wasn't going to say 75 lol I was just trying to cooperate as best as I could cuz I didn't wanna get arrested and bond out or get my car impounded. But I'll for sure be getting a lawyer.

I am kinda in the same boat, i got pulled over in late May doing 110 in a 65 on my GSX-R 1000, and he never asked me how fast i was going though. The officer just wrote me the ticket and let me leave. I did sell the Bike the next day, and i am planning on going to court pleading "No Contest", state my circumstances, and ask for a plea for the ticket to be reduced. I was also going to request community service and/or traffic school as well.

I'll take responsibility for what iv done. But I'm gunna do anything possible to get the ticket dropped or the speed reduced.

What exactly are your plans to get the ticket dropped?

If I'm going over 100 and a cop is sitting there I NEVER take my foot out of it no if ands or buts..this may sound stupid but with the amount of time it takes the cop car to either a.) turn around or b.) get up to your speed he will have lost sight of you and once they lose sight of you they normally stop pursuit

You're right on one part, it IS stupid.

That's exactly what I would have done but I didn't see the cop so I slowed back down to 70 and put the cruise on. Then about 5 min later a see him about 100 yards back without his lights on. Then he followed me for a min or 2 then flipped his lights on.

So you're taking responsibility for your actions....but you would have fled from the officer given the opportunity??? :rollseyes

you could still take responsibility for what you did and try and get a reduced penalty. I'm hoping to pay an increased fine but keep my license and get a no same/similar to keep it off my driving record for insurance purposes.

If you keep your license for 136 in a 65 I will be amazed, especially if you do it without an attorney. You might want to speak to one that deals with traffic offenses in that court.

Nope svtcop is right if you get a lawyer you are not taking responsibility for your actions.lol

You CAN have an attorney and take responsibility for your actions. However, I guarantee (even with attorney in tow) if you go into court, say to the judge, "I take responsibility for my actions" your ticket will not get dropped. I wouldn't recommend anyone face a criminal offense in court without an attorney.

You are dealing with the consequences of your actions because that is what is required of you. What you need to do is learn from your mistake. But based on your previous post about running from the cops I doubt you've learned anything. You should mention that to the judge as well.

03_Termi: "Your Honor, I am taking full responsibility for my actions. I can also say, Your Honor, that I have learned a very valuable lesson from this ordeal."

Judge: "Yes, and what lesson would that be?"

03_Termi: "If posed with a similar situation, I think it would be in my best interest to just keep the pedal to the floor and not stop. Because me getting out of a ticket is far more important than public safely. And frankly your Honor, who cares if I do get caught after that and face felony charges for fleeing, I'll just post another thread on svtp and tell everyone I'm taking responsibility for my actions. Then I'll let them know that I think I can beat the charge."

Judge: ":nonono:"

This last sentence is sincere and from the bottom of my heart...Good Luck! :lol1:

He is not asking for what he should have said or what he did wrong. He is asking for what fines to expect. Read the op

That's exactlly what i was going to say. I wouldn't say "I plead the fifth" to the cop as I would probably come off as a douche but I would say something like "I'd rather not say". That's exactlly what the Fifth Amendment is about. You can't be forced to incriminate yourself. It's possible the officer didn't even get a clock on the OP but he was obviously speeding so he pulled him over. If he had said nothing there would be no way for the officer to even give him a ticket.

+1 True story: I blasted past a speed trap at over 90mph on my way home from work. I clearly saw the the patrol car pull out and lights come on. I never let off the gas and was off at the next exit. Stopped off at the grocery store and when I came back out there was a patrol car parked directly behind me, obviously I can't be sure it was the same patrol car but it would be a helluva coincidence. Got back in my car, didn't look at the officer, started it up and drove home. My understanding is if he doesn't get your plate number and loses sight of you there is nothing he can do as far as issuing a ticket.

sounds great and fine and all. In my case the cop was on the on ramp on the back side of the overpass already accelrating to get on the highway. I was already slowing when i saw him in my rearview right on my tail. worst circumnstance ever for getting pulled over.

Were you in the 900+ hp Cobra that's in your sig? Was he strapped to a rocket or something?

OP I feel for you, bro. I would guess a large percentage of SVTP posters have been well in excess of 100mph on a public road at least once. It could happen to any of us. I would check into how your local jurisdiction handles speeding tickets. Don't ask a lawyer though as they will just try to scare the crap out of you so you hire them, slimey bastards (no offense to any SVTP lawyers). I know the judges in my county as a general rule hate speeders with a passion. Normal sentencing for 100+ is loss of license and a day in jail for mph over 100. I would definitely get a lawyer though. I got a lawyer when I got a reckless driving ticket for 20mph over posted limit. I ended up paying more than amount I would have paid if I had just paid the fines but there was no chance of me losing my license and no reckless on my record which was well worth the money. Good luck to you.
