Its a funny thing, i got the exacy same combo from mmr, i had less than 20 miles on my new engine, the exact same thing happened..broken valve spring and lost all compression.. i called mmr they said they never heard of this before, i said to nergel are u sure u never heard of this , his reply was def never had any issues with the comp springs and turned me away and told me to call comp directly. i called the rep and explained what happened she told me that there is def no problems with their beehive springs and charged me $98 for a single spring shipped to me , now that was terrible customer service, i have no faith in any comp products at all.... i would rather someone would be upfront if they had problems with a certain product than try to pass the puck.. it aint a cheap repair when a engine drops a valve due to garbage springs.. MMR passed the puc in my case, never even offered to give me a single spring....very true.....not impressed....luckily my piston never got smashed up all i had to do was replace one spring....
Thats interesting to hear...you mind if i ask when this happened? The reason i ask is because right after this happened i spoke with MMR and they said this has happened twice in the past 6 months. So if you were one of the first ones or the actual first one, and it was a quick fix, they sent you on your way thinking it was a random occurrence. Maybe with my motor and the fact that it sounded really really broken and they have been seeing this as a recurring problem they decided to take the motor and help me out. Once i showed them the busted valve spring photos they just took care of it and fixed me up. I think whats going on is a defective batch of valve springs by comp, i originally thought it could have been mechanic error and when they pulled the motor they saw they f'kd something up. Not really sure but lucky you for it only being a valve spring and nothing more. 100 bucks is chump change to fix a broke motor though, not saying it didn't suck though.
And for the record, never putting a comp spring back in my car, Manley.
