OVER-GENERALIZATION POLICE, please pull over. I think you meant to say the above + ..."in America". we are well behind Europe and the land of the rising sun based on how badly the GTR shat on everything in it's price range when it debuted. Also, 599xx? F12? 458? Aventador? Honda building F1 engines for the past 20 years, etc etc.

How is America behind Europe in performance. On that note the Corvette can hang with or beat some of those cars for a lesser price. Ok I might have put a little extra saying Ford is at the fore front but they are definitely up there in the ranks(ecoboost, coyote, roadrunner, trinity).

Good kill OP.

What I can't understand is why a ZL1 is so unimpressive in a straight line.(or so it seems) I know at over 2 tons it's a hefty car, but it's also rated at over 130 whp more than the Boss, and the similar platform CTS-V, that's rated slightly heavier running the same motor rated at 24 less HP seems to be such a strong performer in comparison. It's not like the ZL1 is running some crazy tall gearing or anything.

I'm not taking away from your kill OP as great job, I'm just saying 444 bhp Mustangs with only a CAI, deleted cats, and tunes aren't suppose to beat 580 BHP Camaro's in a straight line but they seem to do it. There's even a video on Youtube of a tuned Boss pulling away from a new ZL1.

I don't get it either??? Sad part was the race was NEVER close and we raced several times. I personally think the ZL1 is over rated and most dyno's seem to agree. It's probably making 530-550 HP not 580.

I love the way they look but there performane for the money is just not there. I would get a GT500 over that car any day of the week and twice on sunday!

Smh at Al O. And Chebby. Good kill OP. Who would have thought that the tables would have turned this way where FORD's N/A engine would be beating a SUPERCHARGED 6.2L. A 302ci motor beating a 378ci s/c engine is just crazy to me. Technology has come A LONG way and Ford is at the fore front of it.

Please tell me you are kidding about Ford technology

If the ZL1 traps right under 120-mph (116-119mph), I'm assuming to pull 8 cars on the ZL1 in a short distance that OP's Boss is trapping 130-135 with an intake & tune?

What do stock Boss mustangs trap?

My boss traps 172.3 mph.

lol. My boss should trap 122-124 with my current mods. From everything I have seen, stock ZL1's are trapping low teens. These magazines seemed to have pumped up there times a bit.

117-122ish IIRC. We all figured his distance was off.

The ZL1 stock traps between 111-113 I raced one a few times and his best mPh was 111, and I have a friend with one, and his BEST pass is 12.20@113on DRs Both cars were autos on DRs

I think sometimes y'all try and add to much science in to a roll race.

If the ZL1 was an auto it can make sense. It has to take the time to downshift, etc.

I had some TBSS that kept messing with me one time until I would give him a run, and from a 40-100 mph roll I probably gapped him 30+ cars. Judging by our traps I doubt you would think I would gap a TBSS that much in a pulleyed Cobra in that short a race, but stockish TBSS have no business trying to race Terminators in a 40 mph roll. Yes he was racing.

Here's the video I was talking about earlier of the Boss 302 vs ZL1. I thought it was a tune only car, but it's actually a tune, CAI, X-pipe car, vs a stock ZL1. Don't now if it's a A6 or M6 ZL1.

2013 BOSS 302 vs 2013 Camaro ZL1. - YouTube

The impression I've gotten from both car is the Boss 302 seems to be somewhat of an over-performer where a new ZL1 seems to be an under-performer. I'm sure on a road course a ZL1 is a worth adversary though, but even the magazines that gave it the victory over the GT500 in recent tests are now claiming it to be a slow 580 HP car.

I looked at the motor trend comparison. i laughed my ass off at them choosing the ZL1 after they talked about how great the GT500 is and theysaid the brakes were slightly better.

So the stick makes it 6 MPH faster I highly doubt it, It did sound like it had an open exhaust tho. I'll have to call my bud who has been racing for 25+ years and tell him something is wrong with his car.

They seem to heat soak TERRIBLE. I've seen one here at the local track running low 12s @ 117, and after a couple passes drop to mid 12's @ 114-115. I love the new maro's look, but the GT500 has it licked hands down.

No one has come close to duplicating that, the stock ZL1s seem to be averaging 111-115 in the summer heat, I can see 117-120 possible in the fall.

I've seen a regular tuned A6 GT take out a ZL1 at the track, stock they just aren't impressive

It's 100% believable a minor modded Boss would destroy one

The ZL1 must be very restricted from the factory, then. Because I've seen one running tens at 130 with bolt-ons (intake, throttle body, pulley, removed cats, heat exchanger, drag radials, pump gas). So if they run 111-mph like some say, then it's picking up almost 20-mph with those mods but not sure exactly what boost.
