Thanks for the update.. I can't see how he can get out of this one. At this point it's just a question of how many years will he get.

Murder? So he was either drunk and/or street racing?

Take that as a warning kiddies, nothing good happens when you race(or drive drunk).

Was not drunk. There are witness reports that he was racing a Cadillac. And the accident reconstruction put his speed over 140 MPH when he impacted the other car.

I have no sympathy for the driver of the cobra. You do illegal shit, you deserve the consequences. The sad part is the people this **** killed.

dont think that was accurate. He's still alive and if memory serves me correctly he was injured but non life threatening..

Uh, this wreck definitely killed. Yes the Cobra driver/SVTP member is still alive, obviously, or he wouldn't be facing murder charges.

That is stupid. This is one of the only forums where you can post kills on the street. Like it or not it happens and YOU and about every single other person to post in this thread has at one point or another done EXACTLY what everyone is crying and calling foul about.

Street racing is not OK, I'm not saying it is and I'm not saying its smart but if you have EVER in your life so much as ran your car through 1st and 2nd at WOT on any other street but the interstate then you are no better than anyone else. It doesn't take 140mph to kill an innocent person. 60mph in a 45 will do the trick a lot of the time. All it takes is you going to fast and someone pulling out in front of you and you not being able to stop. Plain and simple. People need to stop throwing stones when everyone here is guilty of driving to fast for the street they are on at one point or another. I have personally seen several of the people in here post in road side or in pics and video about their street races. You guys know who you are, so stop bitching.
Agreed. We have all driven our cars too fast at one point or another. Those that deny it are most likely liars. Let this be a warning to all. You never know who could pull out in front of you. I remember that guy that crashed his Ford GT in Russia and the whole thing burned to the ground killing him and the other driver whose car he crashed into when he was doing a high speed run.

I just picked up a 600+ Cobra in Houston and drove it back to Seattle. While going thru El Paso a pack of Mustangs (a new 5.0 and new Boss) saw me and diced thru a ton of traffic to show me just how loud their cars are while trying to goad me into a show of speed.

I was in 5th gear at 60 (3.73 gearing) and briefly punched it before regaining my mind and letting off.

I completely get how this stuff happens. So stupid and, in this case, so sad.

Murder? So he was either drunk and/or street racing?.
he was neither. he was moronically stupid. and was driving like the worst kind of asshat imaginable at the worst possible time of day

He doesn't have a clean record. Has history of MV citations.
THIS: Bodden’s driving record includes a guilty plea to driving while his license was suspended or revoked in 2007, and guilty pleas to traffic signal violations in 2010 and 2012. In January 2004, Bodden sued another man in connection with injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle crash and eventually settled out of court. And in 2007, he sued PennDOT in county court to have his license re-instated after a suspension for driving while suspended. The appeal was later dismissed. Older traffic records are not publicly available. and that is not all that is there just what they highlighted.

you would look like shit too if you had been through what he has and now have to worry about Jail LOL

since you seem to think that everyone has done EXACTLY what this guy did, I will let you in on a little secret. that is horseshit. while a significant number have gone way over the speed limit I seriously doubt that "about every single other person to post in this thread" has been this stupid. I would say the ones that rise to this level os moronic behavior can be counted on one hand.

actually he isn't, and I doubt there is a lawyer that will get him off. it does not sound like the DA is in a negotiating mood. and the picture of the 9 year old killed will not sit well with a jury. if you actually look at what he was charged with there are enough "lesser included" that he can still get 25 years without being convicted of murder. I thing 3rd degree murder is the perfect charge but they have included "involuntary manslaughter" so he will get convicted it is just a matter of what. From the article:

"From there he was taken to the county prison, processed and arraigned on the murder charge and one count each of homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault by vehicle, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, and single counts of reckless driving, speeding and driving at an unsafe speed. He faces up to 54 years in prison if convicted on all counts."

and the prosecutor justifies the murder charge exactly right IMHO:
“This was a volitional act — a choice — by Mr. Bodden to drive at the speed that was beyond reckless,” District Attorney David Heckler said Thursday in announcing the third-degree murder charges against Bodden.
“The thing that sets murder apart from manslaughter is a concept called malice, and one of the classic definitions of malice … is that malice is shown by actions which demonstrate an extreme indifference to the value of human life.”
