I've been seriously considering this Paxton kit that's on sale.
My "right now" mod budget is 5k ish dollars depending how much I want something. Looks like people are making about 600 to the tires on these.

So with that being said anyone have experience with putting a Paxton only on a stock 5.0 car?

What did you run in the quarter?

How is power delivery?

Would you do it again or go another route and why?

Well thanks in advance

How is power delivery? With the auto you be in boost while in the power band. So if you have sticky tires, hold on, because it will pull like a freight train.

Would you do it again or go another route and why? for the price I would go this route over and over, I may even go Paxton on a Viper, if Beef can get low price on the kit

Well thanks in advance

You cant go wrong with the latest specials Beef and JPC are running on these kits and with a good tune its not hard to crack 10's...One thing about the Paxton Novi 2200 is it can take you to 1000hp if your wanting to go that high. "measure twice, cut one!"

i agree with SofTop.
id order the Paxton over again, especially at the prices now.
no times yet, i'll finally get it dialed in/tracked/dyno'd next month.
power is there from the beginning but from 4k or so on, hold on!
i installed mine over a couple days, take it slow and steady. its not too bad at all.

no dyno number or track numbers but i will say this.... street tires are pointless. I am not super happy with a few things on the paxton kit but over its pretty nice.

I'm gonna have to correct the wheel hop issue for sure. I'm even gettin wheel hop into 3rd gear stock.

I could only imagine after strapping one of these bad boys on.

What kind of things don't you like about the kit?

Paxton kits are really good imo. There are a few things that I don't like like the pastic coolant tank. But over all it is a great kit. From 1000 to 3500rpm is almost like stock. Once you start to get into boost the power delivery is very linear. I like it a lot.

I'm pretty impressed with my Paxton kit, especially given the price as compared to the PD blowers. I did a write up on it after the install and can shoot you a link if you like.

As for the shortcomings of the kit, you've got the plastic reservoir tank, which I would highly recommend swapping out for a JPC aluminum unit. Mine leaked on me upon first start up, and it was a PITA to drain it of coolant to get the other one installed. Also I've been having alot of issues with the cut portion of the upper radiator hose having a very slow leak that I may have to tear everything apart to fix once and for all, which is also a good amount of a headache.

However, those are my only complaints with the kit, the instructions are pretty solid and mostly all-inclusive, the cutting of different plastic pieces seems daunting at first but it's really not that bad. The car is a M6, and with the mods I'm running (Paxton 2200SL running the base 3.8" pulley that comes pre-mounted, 47 lb/hr injectors, JLT open element filter and a Lethal o/r H pipe), I put down 640/512 SAE with an AED tune.

Haven't gotten to run at the track yet, as weather and my work schedule prevent me from making it up there

Get it man.. It's not a hard install. Just add id1000's and a boost a pump and you will make over 600 with a stupid safe tune. I made 759/593 on pump
Gas with the 3.3 pulley in cold air. I backed it down to a 3.6 and a safer tune and still make close to 700. With a Paxton these cars can run 9's on the stock motor.

Before someone comes in here and says "your just not mechanically inclined" or "must be over your head to install it...". I am a ASE certified mechanic and I have been doing nothing but working on vehicles for as long as i can remember and I am currently a shop foreman in the army... with that aside I consider myself a good mechanic and have the deepest passion for cars.

Who ever designed the kit was really using his/her head and made the system fit in a area that seriously looked impossible to mount. I have the paxton head unit so its a little bigger so some issues are due to that.

Head unit: might just be my fan shroud but it it seems like the inlet for the head unit is too close to the fan shroud making it a bitch to get the intake tube on. not too big of an issue but its just irritates me some.

Pulley system: The bottom mounting "studs" look whimpy as hell and one of mine wasn't threaded good enough. Had shallow threads so I had to run down to the shop and get a tap to fix it and a new nut that i messed up finding out it wasn't threaded deep enough. If the belt takes a hike you basically have to pull the head unit to get a new belt on it. Yes its possibly to do it with the head unit on but it looks like it wont be fun at all.

Cooling hoses: the 90 degree part you reuse it complete bullshit if you ask me. I did what they wanted with cutting it 1/2 way through the 90 degree bend which isnt a good idea. I have a back up hose now in case it starts to leak. Didnt know I had some in the shop or i would have used the piece I had that has a 45 degree bend and 2" on each side of the 45. they could have supplied a $5 hose with the kit. The rest of the piping wasn't all that bad.

Charge piping: What a wonderful place to put the bypass valve!!! pain in the ass to move it around and get the hose couplers on to the head unit.

miscellaneous: The vacuum hose for the bypass valve wont even fit on the bypass valve port... the T fitting for it to tap into the brake boosted is almost too big for the small vacuum line. How hard is it to get a T fitting the same size as the port fitting and then get the correct size hose??? once again had to go to the shop and grab some larger diameter hose. They like to use the one time crimp style hose clamps... all great and I like them because they are cleaner looking and look factory BUT who has the proper tool for them? not myself and being so damn far from a auto tool store i had to use dykes and be careful not to cut them. Lets talk about this micky mouse piece of shit coolant tank... ****ING JUNK!!! I was prepared though and used a canton tank with no issues. Lets also talk about the installation instructions.... garbage for the most part.

Over all the kit isn't all that bad but there are just those small things that drive me bonkers. Now that I have done it once I and confident I could do the whole system on a car in like 4-5 Hrs. Took me about 8 because I had to hunt down stuff and figure out the shitty instructions. still working out some tuning stuff but it runs great and I still get 16mpg and I only live a mile from work so most of my gas is wasted on start ups. will be on the highway this weekend to go get my 3.31s put back in the rear end because the 3.73s do nothing more than help murder my poor street tires.

no leaks for me but i broke a few hose clamps by tightening them too tight lol. i made damn sure i didnt have to take apart anything for a stupid leak.

Yeah, I wish I had known about what a god awful waste of time messing with that radiator hose was, because I've taken it apart twice trying to fix the issue, and it still isn't fixed...I agree they should have had an extra inch or two on either side of that 90* bend because getting it to seal for me has been impossible. As for the intake piping thing, yeah, it is kind of a bitch to get on the head unit, but I was able to get it on fairly easily i suppose, for where it is haha.

I haven't driven a 700hp car before so I'm pretty stoked. My wife did green light the supercharger already(she authorizes my large purchases :-D)
I'm pretty good at selling her ideas... I'm like a used car salesman lol. Quads, boat, additional trailer.... Got em lol

The main idea for me was to get the large mod purchase in the beginning bc it's too easy to sneak out 5-700 for the little stuff here and there muahaha....

Thx for the feedback

haha, i let my wife think she does that too

i pulled the whole "i had this planned long before we got together, much less married" thing...then paid on it monthly to make it seem not as bad

i have the 3.33" pulley on as well as ID1000s and a JMS bap, i'll dyno it when i get home in a month. i'll be stoked if i had close to 750rhp but id have to lower it since i dont have a built engine/oil pump gear.
