Wait till you try to get the bolt under the rear seat loose, mine was so tight even a large breaker bar with some leverage woulndt loosen it. I had to buy a 700ft lb impact gun. LoL.
UCA was the very first mod I installed on my car.
My Boss was the first stick car that I raced at a 1/4mile.I had autos before with stall converters.
The first time down the track with drag radials that Stock UCA thumped so hard on the shifts it scared the living crap outta me. I thought I blew the rear end. LoL :D

Don't these UCA replacements still use the rubber bushing in the axle housing? If so, shouldn't it be replaced as well?

Yes, they still use the stock bushing in the axle housing. I was wondering about that myself, but it doesn't appear to have a lot of give in it watching the video. When I do the next video, with the BMR upper installed, I will be keeping a close eye on that. There are poly replacements available for that bushing....and it appears to be a total PIA to do. We shall see......

Upper went in tonight. Not really a bad job at all. Set the pinion angle at -2.5 and locked it down. Will be heading back to the track ASAP for the follow up video. Took it for a short drive, the rear end definitely feels like it bites harder now. Small increase in NVH as expected, but its nothing dramatic. Just a little more gear noise and clunking from the driveshaft and gearset. I'm happy so far....

Great write up, now come help me install mine. Did you need to drop the fuel tank in order to install the upper bracket?

No, didn't have to touch the fuel tank. Popped rear seat out, used 36" breaker bar and 24mm socket to loosen that bolt and then backed it out the rest of the way out with an impact gun. Pulled the axle housing bolt out, then the 2 18mm bolts that hold the upper mount in place from underneath. Pulled the stock upper arm and mount out together. Install was reverse order plus setting the pinion angle. Impact gun, extensions, and swivel sockets made this a quick job, took me all of 45 minutes. Car was up on ramps in the rear.

If you only knew how many times/calls I get about those same parts "not fitting right."

I have had 5~ customers call me clueless, simply because I told them the gas tank does not need to be loosened/moved. I try to tell them I have done the install like 100 times, but, they just won't have it.

Can't wait to see vid!

Nice video. It just looks like a pain to do an upper but everyone says its easy.

Have BMR LCAs and relos waiting to go on. I bought the boxed ones that were like 139...not sure if I should have gotten the other kinds like the billets. I want best perf with least increase in NVH.

Any update waiting on video to thinking of getting the steeda upper for lowered cars

As soon as the track is open again, I will be there to take the video of the new stuff. They were closed for Mother's Day this past weekend.

Upper wasn't bad, but I could see where it would be if you didn't have the right tools. As far as NVH, I barely noticed the lowers after I put them in. The upper does add some. Mostly gear noise from the rear end. I'm going to play with the pinion angle a little and see if I can tune it out. If that doesn't work I'll throw some Amsoil in the rear. Might as well, I've got it in everything else.

BTW, I haven't been able to get the rear to hop since that upper went in. Need another rainy day or track day to know for sure though....

I adjusted the pinion angle from a little over 2.5 to around 1.75 this afternoon and took it out for a drive. It is much quieter now. Even with the radio off and windows up, there isn't enough noise now to even bother me.

I know I still owe you all another video, sure wish the track was open more...

I am curious as to whether it would be worth the savings by just replacing the upper mount and UCA and leaving the LCA alone for now?

Yes.

I have a few customers, who have amazing sixty foot times with UCA/Mount, stock LCA and Relocation Brackets.

It really just depends on what you want to achieve, your budget, and how picky you are about NVH.

I took a closer look at the stock upper and lower control arms that I took off my car. Poking at the bushings with a screwdriver, the bushing on the upper arm is WAY softer than the bushings in the stock lowers. If I had to do one or the other, I would do the upper for sure.

Track closed today due to the rain....even though it stopped 2 hours ago and it is completely dry out there right now. :fm:

I did get to romp on it a little on the wet roads earlier today however. Wheel hop is GONE completely in that situation. :rolling:

Thanks...waiting for the video as well. Looks like I will just replace the upper and mount for now and see that works.
