The Ferrari specs

Displayed underneath a glass window like the piece of art that it is, the 458 Italia's heart is a direct-injected 4.5-liter V8 cranks out 562 horsepower at 9,000 rpm (125 horsepower per liter, a record for naturally-aspirated piston engines). Torque is rated at 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm, 80 percent of which is available from 3,250 rpm.

Not much for $350k but it does do 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. lol
i had to quote this stupidity. You must have missed the text you typed that states NA record power.

Ford has a 5 liter motor that makes 140+ less hp and would need to make 600+ NA to match it. The 458 makes 125hp per liter NA and is over priced? Ford, GM or any other American company could not even touch that. Yeah nothing special about that engineering in a road going car.

**** the gt500 is 5.8 liters with a 2.3l positive displacement blower and only makes 114hp liter. Good call chief.

Disagree here...no stupidity. I have a $40,000 dollar car with 1,000 horsepower. His point is, it's $300K and has 500ish horsepower...IF you measure a car by its horsepower, Ferraris are a ripoff.

Now, now, we all know horsepower IS NOT the only measure of a car. BUT, for motorheads like most of us on SVT, horsepower IS A BIG DEAL.:dancenana:

More than you can afford pal.

Not to take this thread on yet another tangent, but I always assumed the "Ferrari-owning prick" stereotype was just that: a stereotype. I've met many a Ferrari owner and to a person they were nice, normal people, many of them genuine enthusiasts.

Then the other day I finally met a FOP. He's in the parking lot standing next to his '07 599, running his mouth on and on to the small group of onlookers about how fast it is, and how exclusive, and how other cars just can't compare, and how when someone will challenge him on the road he'll scare them off with a "over 600 horsepower, you don't want any of this" line. It was beyond tiresome.

I finally interjected myself and said "Yep, the good ole 599 HTGE. They're reasonably quick, got some traction issues off the line though." He turns to me and says "oh yeah pal, what do you drive??"

:-D

Somewhere between "let's see, we have a 599XX EVO" and "... and that yellow F12 parked over there" he decided he needed to be elsewhere, got in his car, and drove off without another word.

It was priceless.

Beautiful...I love it. Next time you meet a FOP (love the new acronym). Tell him you'll race him for pinks at the nearest drag strip. Show up in your Cobra Jet and DEFILE him.

Lol, first of all he didn't go out and buy the car a few months later, second I am sure he bought the car to drive around so he won't get beat..makes sense doesn't it :bash::bash:

Yes is does make perfect sense. You're finally getting the picture! BTW, what's your definition of a few? From the day Treynor posted this:

"Just a few observations:

1. There are plenty of Ferrari owners, myself included, who are car guys. Don't assume just because we drive exotics that we're ignorant or deluded about what a Shelby / GTR / ZR1 / ... can do, or how easy they are to mod.

2. A bone stock 458 hardtop is a 125-130 MPH car depending on traction & tires. On the street they get off the line quite well because of the weight distribution; on the 'strip the street tires do not do so well.

3. Everyone I know who has an Aventador doesn't drive it. The spec sheet and the styling of the car look good; the actual driving experience is less attractive. Transmission & reliability are the two most common complaints.
3a. And none of them are single, so picking up chicks is not a priority.

Finally,
4. While it hasn't happened, I (personally) wouldn't mind losing a race to a fast Shelby / ... at the 'strip. I'm a car guy; seeing other fast cars in action is fun. That said, if I really wanted to win every drag race I was in, I'd get a car designed to do just that"

Until the day he posted this:

"The 2014 Mustang Cobra Jet
SVT picked the color - and it looks awesome!

Teaser pics for now; it arrives this weekend, and I'll post up some proper pics and initial impressions then.

To say I'm giddy with anticipation would be an understatement."

Was less than four months.

He ordered that car much longer than 4 months ago...

Not trying to speak for him but just from his post in the past you can tell he is a true car enthusiast and he always buys one off or special collector cars so for you to think it is because " oh its because he doesn't want to lose" theory makes you uneducated and misinformed. This CJ is no different then his other special addition 599 he bought a yr or so ago

So what makes you so much different than him? All I see here are two guys stroking their egos.

Than you don't see very well .....there is a huge difference, if you can't see that then there is no point explaining it

Once again...I disagree with KAZ.

BTW, KAZ, you should totally start a Treynor fan club. You'd be an exuberant leader of said club.

I'm going to take this post a step further...

I think what I struggle with is people flaunting wealth...truth be told.

However, I don't have a problem with people flaunting speed/horsepower.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have two Mustangs, a boat, a nice house, a Suburban and a Tahoe. Hypocrisy? Perhaps...

Not saying I'm right or wrong, but that's the bare bones of this...

I know a surgeon that makes a ton of $$$ and he drives a rusted out 72 Chev long bed truck to work every day while the other docs pull up in Porsches and BMWs. For some reason, I think he's the stud of the bunch!

Chime in!

Lol, why because I can correct you on your misguided information like " oh he went out and bought the car because he doesn't wanna lose and this thread proves it" non sense? Lol..so because I point out you are wrong you make a " you should start a fan club" comment hahahaha what a joke. I have a role model and member I am in his "fan club" and treynor isn't either of them.

I also find it funny that you didn't get the point of his story, not surprised though as I have read your post in this thread it is kinda oblivious you aren't in touch with reality or use very much common sense. I can try and dumb down the story for you so you would understand if you would like? I find it funny myself along with other ppl got the point but you seem to not get it

I also find it hilarious that after your long easement when you thought he bought his CJ and was laughing because you felt your view of him was right he shot you down lettingbyou know he bought it back in 2012 which is the same thing that I pointed out to you and you have no reply for that, then you go on a rant about ppl flaunting money and project that as him being "that guy" when you wouldn't have even known what he had if he didn't tell a story about a FOP belittling other ppl ... you reach for a leg to stand on with every post and it gets kicked out from under you...pretty entertaining IMO lol
