Here is one my dad, brother and I plan on building. This is my great aunts 1964 ford falcon squire station wagon. its all original with 29k miles, 200 cubic inch motor and a 3 speed on the column.

Very nice. It would be a fun cruising car.

I would add the 95 cobra hard top convertible to the list, only 499 built, very under valued imo
I agree. I mentioned the 94/95 cars and the rare ones.

2. 1994/1995 Mustang Cobra (including the rarer examples). It's the last Windor engines in a Mustang.

You can stay stock or store the original engine and bump it up with a stroker 5.0L Windsor. I like 'em. :-D

Comparing the fox to the early Shelbys doesn't work for me unless you are talking about the 93R and the 93 Cobra. There were too many foxes built to draw a comparison to the Shelbys. I do agree they are the next "wave" of collectibles based on demographics, but they won't make the numbers. And honestly, that is good for the enthusiast.

I would add the 94 Pace Car and 95 conv/ht to the list. The mystic and mystichrome cars are also cool.

If the early Shelbys do come down in value I will definitely be in line for one.

I think the buy right now is lower-mileage 93 Cobras. They are way undervalued for what they are.

Last I looked they were upper teens to low 20s for a clean one.

I believe with patience one could be had for mid teens.

I agree.

My problem is that they made 5,100 1993 Cobra's. They aren't that rare (or fast ;-) ). That is not far off a recent bid for a 1995 Cobra R.

And don't me started on the early GT350/GR500 Shelby's (and others...). ;-)

IMO, there is a lot of momentum in some nice earlier cars. I worry that it could end one day when interest rates return to normal levels.

I tend to worry more about return of the principle than a possible return on the principle.

Yep, I've never bought a car looking to make money. If I can just break even that is a good day. That means I lost after inflation but I don't think about it that hard.

And I do agree, when you cross that $20K threshold you are into a good 95R.

But not as agreeable as a cruiser.

Alas, it doesn't matter since I am broke due to the Shelby in my garage.

That would look great in your garage Joe. I remember about 2 years back when I almost bought a 93r for under 40k with less than 6k miles. :bash:

LOL while it is a great car, I would have a hard time spending that kinda money on it. I still haven't decided what I want to do. Maybe you should pick that one up! And yes, you should have bought the 93R...then you would only be missing the 95R! :bash:

Doc,

As you requested.

Probably one of the dumbest monetary moves I have ever made. It was really hard to go through with this since I knew it was a money loser, time will tell how much.

It replaced the 95 conv/ht which is already sold.

I will say it is an amazing vehicle. 662 hp, A/C, power everything and just a bad ass car. And last of the GT500s from Ford (at least for the foreseeable future). Probably the one item that I am enjoying much more than expected is the glass roof. That is a really cool option. Hopefully it will find its way to future models.

Tom,
I felt the same way when I bought mine, knew it would be a money loser. However I'll probably never sell it so will I really loose that money? At their ages my kids are very busy with sports, so when the weather is good this is the car I've been running them around in. I put a little over 2,000 miles on it last summer and fall. It puts a smile on my face every time I get in it. It's great to know that if the car has been sitting for a month I can get in at 5:30 in the morning, drive one of my kids 70 miles to a travel soccer game and not worry about any mechanical issues. Drive and enjoy your car and you won't loose a penny. And, I'm really happy I got the glass roof also. Here's mine;

I have not met or heard a single '14 Shelby owner express disappointment. Amazing what you can buy from a Ford dealer these days. Seems the cars just keep getting better and better... Had a glass roof in one of my Saleens and LOVED it! --Congrats on those great rides guys!!!

You have to drive them and enjoy them, they do no good sitting. Congrats to both of you, I am jealous.

Great color!

I totally agree with everything you said. My one goal when I bought this car was to make sure I enjoyed it and built memories with my kids in it. I didn't want it to be a show piece with my kids only memories of it sitting in the shop.

And to anyone that is considering one of these--go drive one. I tell everyone these cars are "stupid fast" off the showroom. 1st and 2nd you can spin at will. Third it will haze the tires to about 100. They are amazing for something off the showroom floor.

My prediction on values, highest being a number 1.

Foxbodies
1. 93r
2. 93 cobra
3. Saleens
4. 87-93 coupe.
5. T-tops/SVO

SN95
1. 95r
2. Saleen speedsters/ saleen cobras
3. 96 mystic
4. Regular cobra's/ Regular Saleens
5. Roush

New Edge
1. 00r
2. Saleen cobra
3. 03-04 cobra
4. saleen
5. Roush

I agree with you about the saleens. After owning a foxbody saleen, I will never own another one. Most of the body panels are held on by double-sided sticky tape.
I agree!
The 93 cobras are def on the rise!
Also you should add the 94 pace car. I also think clean origional 79 pace cars will be good value.

Hey Doc, Tim Holland mentioned to me the other day he might sell that red Boss 302 he bought because he just doesn't drive it. Might want to give him a ring if your thinking about one. That is a beautiful car and it's your color......GJ

Hey Flat Track.....I have a wagon just like that without the wood on it. All original with a little surface rust in a few places. Auto on the column with factory under dash air....I keep threatening to put the full 65 Mustang roadrace suspension and a really good 302/Top loader I have in it but I have to many other project/money pit projects going on. When I finish the restoration on my 69 Z/28 it's next on the list for a low buck project.....GJ

I agree with you.. If you want to look at a market that started poorly, went sky high, and now poor again look at Model A's and Model T's. Who wants a car with wooden wheels/ hand crank, that I could probably peddle my bicycle faster going up a steep hill :)

The only way the old muscle cars are going to stay at considerably high prices will be by resto-moding. They also need to come up with publications to bring future generations into play.

Here is one my dad, brother and I plan on building. This is my great aunts 1964 ford falcon squire station wagon. its all original with 29k miles, 200 cubic inch motor and a 3 speed on the column. Hotchkis suspension will be going in the front on shockwave suspension, 9 inch rear, 289 hipo motor and a 4 speed on the column. We are keeping the stock appearance look on the outside and inside other then some billet wheels. Sorry about my editing with the paint. I tried to stay in the lines, haha.

Just curious.

Why would you go to so much trouble to keep the stock appearance, which I like(4-speed on the column) and then put "BILLET" wheels on it?
Find some plain 14"-15"x7"(or widen some) and put those original dog dish hub caps on.

Just think about it.;-)

That would be really neat. The engine and rear parts are all getting subbed out from my dads beaten up race car parts pile. Hopefully we can do a neat looking set up on this car for a low-cost. I was all about putting a 4 speed top loader in this car but my dad and brother want to take the 3 speed on the column and turn it into a 4 speed. It sounds incredibly boring but it will make a nice cruiser.

Just curious.

My brother and I came up with another wheel combination you will like. They are going to be 17 inch stock style wheels with dog dish's. The project will be starting in about another 2 weeks. Just waiting on the front suspension to arrive since we changed our mind from doing Hotchkis. We still plan on doing shockwaves and cutting out the front shock towers.
