I wish u did so we can see that camaro your so proud of and there's nothing wrong with being proud of your car because mine is my baby lol I don't care where I race doesn't make a difference to me as long as you get it in. The best stories come the streets

Oh and by the way no one gets as many races as da5deuce lol he be lurking in the corners with the cobra looking for victims.

The sheriff has really cracked down seizing racer cars and taking the spectators cars too. They had undercover deputies videotaping races then coming days later to seize them at home.

Good job, no need to get defensive about a Camaro getting beat.

There are plenty of fast Camaros out there, this particular one just wasn't fast enough :)

Plenty of fast mustangs and camaros around. I didn't mean to start a war. There will always be a Ford vs Chevy rivalry lol I'll keep it civil.

I know two guys who got there cars taken a 2011 corvette and a 2002 ss camaro. Corvette was forfeited in court. Camaro owner had his day in court they didn't have a video tape judge dismissed case but police had his car 6 months trashed the inside dented the outside. He spent over $5000.00 all together to get it back. Track for me lol.

That's the shitty part about doing it on the streets. I always did prefer the drag strip too, but I don't drag my cobra it's more of a cruiser.

A buddy of mine picked up a 92 ZR1 in 2003 for 17 grand, it was advertised at 21,000 and had less than 20,000 mi on the clock.

Either that was a lie, the ZR1 had no powertrain, or it had 120,000 miles and was beat to shit. Today, $17K MIGHT get you a near 100K mile ZR1 that needs work. Back in the early 2000s a low mile clean ZR1 was $30-35K

30-35K? No. 17k was a steal i agree but they were averaging $25,000 all around the east coast. Was advertised at less for minor cosmetic reasons not mechanical. At 17k he had plenty of room to make the cosmetics right. Was a private sale not a dealer. Which to link with my previous post is still the same or less then a new Z28 in 02 which averaged 25-27K. Im sure that wasnt the only ZR1 out their priced to sell at the time. Now that they are considered classic and in some states are valid for "historic" plates past and present values cannot be compared, not sure how this would even be valid "Today, $17K MIGHT get you a near 100K mile ZR1 that needs work."

I wanted a camaro. What would I do with a 92 zr1 now? I know it has to be hard finding engine parts for the lt5.

I am on the east coast. Both Florida and the Mid-Atlantic. Back in 1999 my father was looking to buy a used ZR1 and found nothing like what you describe. $17K for a low mile car then was not even close to the market value for a clean car. Everything was ~$35K. My dad gave up and bought a C5 and is in a LARGE Corvette club with several C4 ZR1s which he keeps tab on because he still wants a ZR1. I know the value of the cars then and now.

We just had a 91 traded in at our dealer for $26K. 78K miles with the ugly faded powder blue paint, coolant and oil leaks everywhere, suspension and steering issues, cluster problems, rough cold start, rusted rotors and exhaust due to sitting. The value of the cars hasn't changed in 15-20 years.

Whatever makes you happy guy, imo the gen 4 camaro wins top 5 ugliest muscle cars ever made. Not sure what any owner of a z28 sees/seen in them especially someone whos so into the car like you are. I guess if you could care less about looks and just want to burn some rubber sure, but you said previously you love the sleek lines? That i do not see nor agree with.

What would you do with the ZR-1 today? Most likely the exact same thing you did to your Camaro.... LS3 swap.

I do not agree with you on the prices, and if you read my last post 17 was for cosmetics otherwise it would have been more obviously. I said 25K average. I do not know where you are getting your prices, maybe being a corvette collector/ corvette family means your willing to pay more money???? C5 base new averaged $37,495 - $44,535. Z06 47-52k. Why would a 10 year old zr1 (at the same time that c5 was new on the showroom floor) be that much money unless your over valuing it?

Value of 92 Zr-1 in 2004

Glad to see Larry and them got this completed. Hadn't heard anymore about this car after they purchased the chassis a few years back. Just wish they'd get rid of those ugly wheels lol!
