I would never have an engine built by MMR...heard so many bad things.....MPR on the other hand is a smaller shop and so far I've heard nothing but good things. I PM him on FB and he responded at like 6am and had a quote emailed to me an hour later.

I got my quote back today to forge the bottom end....
Keeping my crank, not doing anything to the heads on a completely undamaged, perfectly running engine...
$8k
That is rods, pistons, gaskets, billet oil pump gears, ARP bolts and balancing.
Add $2k to sleeve the block.
That is also NOT them removing the engine, trans etc. Just bring the engine to them and 4 months later pick it up....

More than I thought... you guys?
That isn't that expensive when you consider the cost of the parts needed.

Manley Pro I beam rods $1400 to $1500

Custom pistons $1200 to $1400

bearings $250

gaskets and seals $350

billet oil pump gears with pump housing $460

rings $350

stud and bolt kits $735

head gaskets $200

If they could quote total labor of removal, teardown, assembly, and reassembly, I personally think it would be worth the extra money. For folks like me who don't have the time on their hands to extensively work on a car without unreasonable downtime, finding a reliable shop who can "do it all" would be who I would lean towards.
But with that said, I personally believe it would be worth the money to make the motor bullet proof for those who want to make 900-1000 crank hp, rather than take a potentially $20K+ hit later down the road.
Also, what is the benefit of having the block sleeved?

Another question; are pistons needed to reliably hold 800-900rwhp?

This sounds awfully familiar to my 03 cobra days..... 2 engines later and let'r rip tater chip.

Manuel. Buy something you don't really want to mess with. Not worth the headaches.

Thanks for the advise Joe, planning to do simple bolt-ons, tune, full exhaust, drop in filters, intercoolers and some diverter valves, that should get me to around 650-660 to all fours, so with a lighter car and the PDK...it should be a monster ;-)

Which car did you decide to go with?

Was at Power By The Hour today getting some work done on my car. Noticed a lonely black GT500 in the corner of their lot. I figure that is your car?

A truck arrived today while I was there with a new stock motor for your car if that is yours. Are you still planning on selling it once it's returned to stock form?
