After having Maui Jims and polarized Oakley's I will NEVER go back to cheap sunglasses. You just gotta take care of them. Well worth the extra $ IMO

I have a pair of Rayban's that I got as a gift. I beat them up pretty bad but I guess Ray Ban will send you new ones if you send your old ones in on your shipping dime and like 12 bucks.

I don't think I could go back to cheap sunglasses only. I have cheap pair that I keep in the wife's car if I am driving it and forgot mine. I can't stand them just comfort wise.

I won't spend over 200 dollars for some. Been 3-4 since I've bought one though. My latest oakley glasses was a Gift. I think they are "worth it". Just got to care for them like you do your car.

I've always been happy with my Ray Bans but I stepped it up recently. I'm waiting for a new pair of Persol 714's to show up.

I appreciate all the info here. I honestly thought way more people would opt against expensive types. I also didnt expect Oakley to be most popular. These are my favorite type of glasses. But when i think of oakley, i think of these. yuck. Although when my costa's resemble every offshore fisherman down here i ever seen.

Is stepping up to actually glass lenses worth it or do you guys go for plastic lenses?

i will have to learn to take care of them. Ill have to keep them in their case when not in use and clean them without scratching them.

I have had oakleys for years and always loved them. I had a pair of polarized whiskars that were realy nice but were so thin and light that they would get real tewaked very easily.i had those for about 5 years. Now i have a pair of used gas cans that i got off of craigslist and have been fine for the last 4-5 years. Only reason i am wanting some new ones is that the lens material is starting to bubble and de laminate just a little bit at the edges where they meet the frame. I would like to try a pair of dillon optics like what matt farrah wears with the matte polarized lenses but those are more in the 250-300 range and i dont really want to spend that much.

Buy some good ones and take care of them. I spend an ass load of time in the sun and good glasses are worth every penny. Maui Jim's for my daily drivers and Costa inshore 580 glass lens for fishing.

I've had 3 pairs of Oakley's over the past 15 years, current pair is going on 4 years and only has one small scratch. Worth every penny.

I won't spend over a $100, so no Oakleys for me these days. I've had probably 5 pair of Oakleys in the past and after losing a $230 pair, that was enough. My personal solution Are Sundogs. I've had a few pair now and paid about $60 each for them at Golf stores. The optics are great, comfort is great, build quality is not quite up to Oakley standards, but for 1/2 to 1/4 the price, it's worth it.

I've had 580 glass seven mile Costas for 8 years! I upgraded from oakley juliets. If I were you I would look into having your current pair rebuilt from Costa with maybe upgrading the lenses to 580 glass.

I used to buy the cheapies as well, but with all of the time I spend outside having a nice pair made sense. Opted for prescription as well, nothing like seeing better and having a comfortable nice pair of shades. :coolman:

I've got $250 Ray-Bans that I bought a few years back. I spend a lot of $$$ on mine because I never lose or break them. I had my last pair 5 years.

My mom sells RayBan and Maui Jim frames at her office so I've been lucky enough to get quite a few pairs cheap. Personally, I think they're worth the money if you're out in the sun or drive a lot. I've never really had any issues with durability... I just wouldn't leave them in your car on an extremely hot day. I would like to get a pair of Costa's to try out. If anyone wants to trade let me know.

My costa's that i paid nearly $150 for are shoot. It's time for new ones. I feel sometimes they distort my vision and give me a headache. Or make me disoriented. They do have plastic lenses and they cook in my truck all day long. They are clipped to my sun visor on the driver side when not in use.

Id like to know if im wasting my money on buying expensive name brand stuff. I just want something to cut the glare while driving, someone durable. And wont scratch easy. It seems something like that cost $20-$30 at Walmart?

This bothers me. A guy i work with uses Costas and complains about them giving him a headache all the time. I wonder if its the lenses? What lense style do you have? Ill ask him and see if its the same. Its scary to think that Costas would be giving people headaches like that.

My "sunglasses" are a few pairs of 3m safety glasses called the Moon Dawg. They sell them for under $10 and are amazingly comfortable. They arent the best but work great and are cheap in case i break them or lose them. They remind me of a knock off set of Oakleys. Only gripe that i have with them is the piece that goes over the ear can sometimes cause some sore spots if worn day after day for over a week.

I have a pair of Costa glasses with plastic lenses, one of the lenses has imperfections in the lens it makes everything look kind of hazy or slightly out of focus. You can only see them but in certain angles. I have been told that they have had problems with the plastic lenses. I'm going to send them back to Costa for them to do a replacement. From now on if I go with Costa they will be glass. I will use Maui Jim for plastic.
Glass is best but is heavy. Plastic is lighter but does not hold up as well to cleaning and long term use. My mj have held up for over 5 years but I am careful with my glasses.

I've had a few pair of Oakley's, just can't justify spending $100+ on sunglasses anymore.

Went and picked up a few pair of $7.99 sunglasses from Target, keep a pair in my truck and another in my car, works for me.
