Same could be said for the base GT350. Neither of these cars is just a phone call away from being had. My hopes of acquiring one are pretty much dashed. There are going to be too many boneheads willingly paying exorbitant markups which will make it basically impossible for more sensible buyers to get one.:whine:

True that.

You guys are funny.... Look at the Boss 302 and the GT500.... There were lots of them sitting around dealers after the initial sales rush! True if you want one asap, no you can't just go get one unless you want to pay a premium. But I guarentee a year after they are out there will be some around just like the GT500 and Bosses were. This is just another Mustang model... And so is the R. I do think the R will be less likely sitting around at msrp. Ford is making them to sell.

The problem with the above is that yes, you will find a few around that you may be able to get for sticker or below. But it won't likely be a car that you would order specifically how you wanted it.

Yep. They'll either be absolute base models with not one option, a loaded up model with every option and the requisite price, a very unpopular color/color combination or any mix of all three. Basically, they're festering on the lots for a reason.

its funny how most dealerships lose their mind over these cars. I don't understand why selling them at msrp to someone local, who will bring it to them for service and warranty work, while building a relationship for future sales gets forgotten when it comes to the svt cars. salesman that sold my dad an f350 superduty and my brother an edge limited wont even call me back, only been 5 days now

if I have to travel for the car, I will drive right past them to get the service and warranty work done and they just don't seem to think about that or care

I intend to visit my local dealer numerous times in my 350 while searching for a new truck, only to buy it at the same dealer who sold me my 350.

Because most people like me will NEVER bring back the car for service, and if it needs warranty work, will be done under a close watchfull eye and at a specified time, none of this "drop it off at 8 am and we'll call you when its done".

I just hope that some of them are shipped as basic cars. My fear is that every one will go out the door with options out the butt. I want a basic car, I don't need the options. The engine and trans are all I need....that and A/C. Not sure what the technology or track packs will offer, but they can't be worth what they cost.

So you don't know what comes in the packs, you just know they aren't worth it? If you're an elite level tuner I would agree, you could probably do better. Most of us are not and just want a complete package from the factory (with maybe some minor additions).

I know they won't be worth it to to me. Tech pack has to be Sync/Nav/Radio/Climate. Those are nice, and I have them on my 2015, but I can live without them. The only thing I would want from the Track, would be more gear (if they are offering it). I don't need special suspension pieces, more cooling or spoilers. I am a drag racer. I want the car for the engine and the trans, and I want it in its most basic form so it is within the realm of reasonable. Then, I am going to bolt every thing on the car I can to make it run harder in a straight line.

We all have different goals.

If you're a drag racer, you're looking at the wrong tool.

I rest my case.

Every time a car like this comes out it is the same mantra, "this is not a drag car." This is a perfectly good tool for the 1/4 mile....and you will see plenty of them there. People said the same thing when the Boss came out, and probably said the same thing in 1969. Any Mustang with 526 HP and a good gearbox is a drag racer. It will be my daily driver, not a dedicated drag car. But, it will most definitely get raced.

I rest my case, and I am actually an attorney. LOL.

So would you hire a Family lawyer to dispute a criminal issue??

We all understand what you're saying, any car can be used for any situation, definitely if you feel like putting money into it. But as I already said, this isn't the right tool for the drag strip. It's a track car. If you decide to take it beyond that then that's obviously your choice, it's your car. Doesn't mean we won't tell you it's stupid.
