No; especially considering the Z06 can barely sustain two laps before choking out with heat soak.

the zl1 is supposedly track ready... it has all the same coolers as the 350 track pack.

shit man i feel like two face, im lovin them both soo fkn much. shit! i dont know how im gonna make up my mind if chevy prices competitively against the 350. im sure they will since base prices for the 350 are going up next model year cuz of track pack being standard.

damn life was so easy before they announced this car... lol, i was like gt350 for sure.
i have no interest in the challenger, and had no interest in the camaro till now. this will be a hard decision, im gonna need to find a way to test drive both before i can make up my mind.

might just go zl1 and then trade her in for the 2018 gt500 in 2019-2020 when adm's calm down for that thing.

decisions decisions.

.
Its actually a much more complicated design from what I understand. Multiple radiators and they rely more on liquid to liquid cooling

Not that I can afford either car, but the ZL1 would never interest me. The previous gen ZL1 was supposed to be all that and a pack of gum but once it hit the streets, it was a major flop. The weight is attractive and that's about it. Not interested in the HP in the least bit.

what makes you say the last zl1 was a flop? i wouldn't say all that, was .5 of a second slower than a 13-14 gt500 on laguna seca with 80 less hp and more weight. i dont see the last zl1 as a flop, i just never liked that front fascia they kept on the gen5 even after the refresh.

You just explained exactly why it was a flop lol

liquid to liquid... i dont even know what that is. i thought the best thing out there was air to liquid (meaning air goes over the radiator cooling the liquid passing through it.

maybe to you but to me it shows that with the same power level of the gt500 it would have been faster, cuz it was the superior handling car.

-correction the old zl1 was only .5 of a second slower than the gt500 on laguna in the hands of randy pobst. edited the last post as well.

refresh your memory

liquid to liquid cooling is the most effective, its how engine blocks are cooled. The coolant recirculates around the block and is then cooled in the radiator. In this case you will have liquid to liquid heat exchanges cooling other aspects of the drive line. It can be a shared loop or a second stand alone loop with its own radiator

As for the ZL1 bench racing, im not interested in it or laguna times or theoretical times if it had more power. The Zl1 and the Z28 were both basically flops. When you have Halo cars at huge discounts and still sitting on the lot and entire MY later, flop.

The ZL1 is still going to be over 3900#, so that's a little disappointing. I'm curious what Goodyear has done for GM to get back onto their performance cars.
This car should be pretty impressive. It'll be convincingly faster than a GT350 in a straight line, with great brakes and MSRC but a bit heavier. I wouldn't doubt it'll be faster on-track than a GT350 for a second. It's also pretty cool that GM won't require a "track pack" to get all the coolers...because that LT4 is going to need them. Hopefully they include trans, oil, diff, supplemental radiator. Clearly, they've got duplicate coolers for some fluids, which is great.

But again, Z28 and ZL1 sales have been relatively dismal. I didn't even realize that GM was still making the ZL1 in '14/'15, lol.

I'm not ready to buy yet either, but hell yeah I'd jump ship. When I purchased my 2012 my choices were boss, 12gt500, 13gt500, or Roush. Now wtf do I have to pick from? So yeah, I better get some more options going here or fence jumping it will be!

There is no way in hell this car is going to be lighter then a track pack gt350 or a R. It has a supercharger. I will bet it's just around 3950-4000 pounds. In my opinion it's also ugly. You couldn't give me one.

I can't believe some of the traders in here lol. Just because it has 640hp who cares. What will you do with the gt500/mach1 etc come out with more hp?
I'll tell you. You'll regret you didn't wait.

The zl1 was never a buy for me. It would have to outdo the competition by leaps and bounds before I'd get one. Isn't happening with this car. So, no I won't be getting one. I like competition though... good to see and good for progress.

Who said the 2017 ZL1 is out? Chevrolet doesn't even have a 2017 Camaro in upcoming vehicles.

Here's the kicker for me. I owned FOUR SVT models... And the Ford Dealers continue to be A holes about ADM even when I have brought other SVT's from them. To be clear, average consumers don't really buy high performance cars. So what does Brand Loyalty mean. Rick Hendricks Chevy near me NEVER charges ADM's on anything as policy. That seems like a dealer that is trying to earn my dollars. I have also had two corvettes. I think Chevy performance cars are just as good as Ford. 640hp and blower whine... Might be worth buying a Camaro!
