Tob, the voodoo badge you drew up looks killer! I was surprised at how the voodoo name snuck by production without a badge, or label on a nicer engine cover or something! One small suggestion, Make the D more pronounced. At first glance it looked like V and all O's. Everyone here would know it says voodoo, but out in public it might not click with a lot of people. It's your car so do it how you like it, but that's just something I saw that I would probably adjust. And I also heard billet badges were awesome. I was going to use them to replace the RAM heads on my last truck, but funds ran dry and the itch for a faster vehicle crept in. But I love watching the progress of your car! keep posting

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen. I do my best to give the animals under my care the same kind of life I'd want if I were in their paws.

x2. It will look great with that small fix.

Truth be told, as I was drawing it I kept hearing a voice that was directing me to differentiate the O's and the D more than I did so that the badge doesn't look like it says Vooooo. So the fact that you both keyed in on that affirms my sense about it and I thank both of you for bringing it up.

I just got off the phone with "Steve" at Billetbadges and he laid down the gauntlet - tooling sizes, minimimum/maximum thicknesses, etc. He's backlogged 3 to 4 weeks with design so we both agreed that I'll tweak it best I can, simplify a few things, increase clearances in some spots, and he'll take it from there. Great guy, great company. So, back to the drawing board!

For me it was missing the opportunity to cull relevant GT350 data and expand the contact network, not so much the quick jaunt on the track. Hopefully that itch get scratched at the Track Attack in Utah at the end of the summer.

You'll have to forgive me JAJ. I've been tied up with two dogs, one of which is a 3 month old Great Dane puppy and the other an 8 month old Dane, some really lousy weather, home maintenance, and I made an attempt to install a Bendpak P6 today (but was shorted various fittings etc). I at least had the opportunity to jockey some cars around which meant the 350 moved 100' or so and is now at 5.3 miles.:( Today was a weather anomaly for us as the sun made an appearance and as such I took a few cell shots just to prove it.

This thing absolutely pops.

I bet this thing is just stunning in person. Looks amazing, and glad you got the Track Pack instead of the "comfort" or "tech" package lol. The non-TP cars looks so tame compared to the Track Pack and 'R' models. How close is this red to the 2004 Torch Red color? identical?

There are few people I really look up to. Those that fought for and served this country and people that rescue animals in need. Good to hear that Chris.

And thanks. Her name was Bella and she was the closest thing to an angel I'll ever meet. A real cutie pie too. She's on the left.

OK - car stuff. We hit 50* and I finally had the opportunity to work on the BendPak P6 low-rise lift I picked up recently. I can't do the crap I used to do (great excuse for the wife especially since it's legit:)) and not using a jack/stands will be welcome change. This will cut down on wasted time and should greatly increase worker productivity.

Looks can be deceiving. These are very heavy. 850lbs between the two of them.

I'm getting there.

I have some other small mods to take care of first as well as reinstalling the front spoiler properly.

Huh, mine's an earlier chassis and the vent strap is hooked up. Must just be the faster Blue cars that get hand build quality. :)

I would never have guessed how cheap the red calipers would be...that is very interesting. They'd really pop next to the dark blue of my car.

OK, Tob, you're forgiven. We've got two dogs that we've had from puppies and they're pretty special and pretty time-consuming when they're young. Realizing how distracted you were, I decided that rather than wait for the measurements, I'd just order the parts and see for myself. I dropped by the dealer and he told me that the brake parts come conveniently packaged in a reasonably priced kit. My 2016 GT350 track pack in black with no stripes should arrive in July.

The lift you have looks great! I came to the same conclusion a few years ago so I bought an Easycarlift - it's the one you run with an electric drill - and it transforms the process of working on the car. I can do an oil change or a trans fluid change in about 40 minutes from on-the-ground to on-the-ground.

As for the casual track stuff for these cars, Pagid has race pads in their pad catalog for both front and rear brakes, and if you're ok with giving up 1/2" of ride height, you have wide range of tires to choose from in 295 and 305/30x19. PSC2's, Trofeo R's and R888's all come in those sizes. If you're like me and you just want to have fun buzzing around a race track, then a set of aftermarket or OEM non-R wheels with R888's and a set of Pagid RS29's is going to be hard to beat. While you couldn't run down GT3's with this setup, it'll be loads of fun just the same.

Now that's an interesting lift. Is it rated by a testing agency outside the company that makes it?

So I sold my GT500 - it's gone. My focus is now solely on this car and I'm trying to pick at it when family obligations allow it and when the weather cooperates. With the wife home during her "Easter break" I figured I'd get a couple of things done. I've been itching to correct the front spoiler installation that the dealer did but it has been less than 40* here and Bendpak makes it clear that the lift should not be operated when temperatures are below 40* (arrgh!). So I knocked out a few easy ones. Some may not like the choices I'll be making with this car but so be it.

First up, the over-assissted clutch pedal spring (or springs on the GT350). The only generation Mustang I've never owned or driven were the Farrah Fawcett abominations. The assist would be great if you just had major knee surgery or have extremely small/weak leg muscles. Far too dainty for my tastes (much like the shifter mechanism - nothing there but air) and apparently much of the enthusiast demographic as well. Early on, many were simply yanking the spring assembly from the clutch pedal. Some experimented with different rate springs. The consensus is that something needs to be there, if for anything, to keep the pedal all the way up once it is released from your foot.

It can be tricky to remove and apparently if you break any of the hardware you have to buy an entire pedal assembly in order to replace some simple pieces. So I carefully removed the assembly. Note - the Mustang GT uses a single spring while the GT350 uses two very different springs. The last photo shows what I changed my assembly to.

While the pedal is still rather "light" it feels far more linear. To whoever signed off on this one - swallow your pride, revisit heavier pedal assemblies and please choose more men that wear flannel shirts for your focus groups (callous hands should be mandatory too). And lay off the "but then it wouldn't be balanced" crap because the shifter is far too metrosexual as well. You aren't seeing the same level of complaint there because the aftermarket hasn't responded yet. When they do, and it won't be long, the Camaro shifter assemblies will be getting yanked as well.

Next up, debadging. While I think Ford designers absolutely crushed the minimalist look, I much prefer to fly under the radar when at all possible. The bright red paint doesn't help here but people are stupid and even if they can read they still want to yap about what they see. I'm still working on a custom side badge (if there weren't fender holes I'd simply remove the chrome GT350 badges and be done with it). While I don't equate this car with a Ferrari, here's a video that shows some of the idiot mentality I seek to avoid.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyg9Mc8B17E

Everything that gets removed goes into a box that the next owner can decide what to do with. So to start, the rear emblem. I picked up a blank FRPP decklid panel. Made by the same company that makes the production panels, these don't have the holes for the rear emblem. Four small screws need to be removed, you then pry the panel off (no adhesive, just clips), and detach the rear camera plug.

IMG_1057.jpg

IMG_1058.jpg

The Ford Racing panel was made about a month earlier than the one from the GT350.

IMG_1059.jpg

IMG_1060.jpg

Made by Tribar Manufacturing to some pretty exacting standards. Here's their website if you're interested.

For those that were wondering, it looks as though the emblems nubs that project out the back of the molding are then melted in place, or something along those lines. Here's the backside of a GT350 emblem...

s-l1600a_1.jpg

Note the two light colored "mushroomed" tabs on the GT350 panel that don't exist on the FRPP one.

IMG_1063.jpg

IMG_1065.jpg

Yes, naked. Bland. Just the way I like it.

IMG_1068.jpg

My favorite Ford Racing dealer sent me a note a few days ago. He also sells a slew of OEM parts and he knew I'd find this interesting...

Tob, Ford has cancelled all 3 of the GT350 grille emblems. Citing "excessive demand."

Perfect. The summer of '16 will bring forth all sorts of EcoBoosted GT350's. May they draw all the ire of the spit and ice cream crowd so I can slip by in non-Track Mode.:dw:

I added Redline Tuning's GT350 hood struts as well. Ford Racing came out with a kit (that I think is sourced through Hillbank) but early buyers were having issue with fasteners rotating. To me that smacks of them simply not doing their due diligence in terms of testing. Apparently, they have made a change to the hardware they include but that alone was enough for me to use Redline. I had them on my GT500 without issue and these are no different. Maintaining my "plain Jane" theme, I removed the Redline stickers, using every prostitutes cleaner of choice on the residual adhesive.

redline1.jpg

Redline includes a template and stepped drill bit that make easy work of placing a hole on the battery cover for the lower strut mount on the passenger side. First rate kit that I highly recommend.

IMG_1084.jpg

Looks 100% OEM.

IMG_1081.jpg

I finished up by completing the install of the Ford Racing oil separators. I had a unique issue beyond the previously shown improperly molded separator top. The engineer from Ford Racing that was tasked with their design corresponded with me a few times and really took care of me. He was very understanding and offered some really great insight as well. I don't think he'd be bothered by me sharing this small portion of our conversation...

As for performance, you’ll experience a couple of ounces of accumulation on the RH over ~5K miles of normal driving. The LH may stay dry. At the track , the LH will fill quicker than the RH due to hard cornering events and the baffling within the camcovers.

Just the kind of data I think everyone would like to baseline from. Anyway, the separators blend in very well (just the way I like it) with the rest of the engine compartment. They really are nice pieces of work.

Tob,

I replaced my spring as well this weekend. I agree with you, still quite light, its even light without the spring and lighter than my coyote, but yes more linear with the single lower rated spring

I inspected the dual-rate spring that I pulled out, it has the same exact free-length as the replacement so that is no issue. I calculated the rates of each, the small spring is the ~60lb/inch range while the larger is in the 350 lb/inch range. The small spring will bottom out due to the white spacer with ~30lbs of total force (combined rate of ~50 lb/in until this happens), and then he higher rate spring takes over. This explains the part that I disliked the most, the very quick and non-linear feel when releasing the clutch from the bottom of its stroke

I sold my 2012 this weekend as well, 100% GT350 focus now! But after driving them back to back I couldnt be happier letting the Coyote go.

Good to hear you successfully sold your 2012. It isn't easy letting go sometimes.

Can you share your math on the rate calcs?
