I saw that yesterday and honestly I wasn't surprised. I was appalled and angry. Some people have no conscience and care only about themselves. Just the other day here in Houston a 14 year old was shot and killed by his 17 year old brother for stealing money from him. The very next day the 17 year old and his 31 year old mother were arrested for robbery. The mother was driving the 14 and 17 year old sons around while they carjacked people and robbed stores.
The moral compass in our society no longer works. I don't like to point fingers, but thank you democrats.

So many questions I have about this.

Why was he in the water in the first place if he couldn't swim?
Why were the kids there? I'm also assuming none of them could swim as well.
Had they called the authorities would they have gotten there fast enough to save the guy?

Which one of these dummies posted the video online which is what I'm sure got them caught. The video is kind of disturbing, they're 14-16 year old so I guess the immaturity shown should be expected now a days.

You can tell a lot from the audio. If this is in a different part of town, someone would have probably saved him, or at least attempted to. Hell is waiting for this group.

This is also why I asked had the authorities been called if they would have gotten there fast enough.

not at my post...

Seriously doubt it. They would have found his body that day instead of two days later. Drowning happens quickly, don't see how first responders would have gotten there in time, unless they were literally around the corner.

You'd be surprised the amount of stupid shit people do, i.e. Being on the lake without knowing how to swim, and no life vest....

Authorities wouldnt have made it in time. Taking your assumption that the teens couldnt swim (id imagine at least a few of them COULD), why wouldnt they run inside to get some help from an adult?

Whole story is pretty sickening.

This is a textbook law school torts case!

agreed but it would basically be teaching you that pretty much everywhere, people are not obligated to render assistance. same thing with reporting a crime.

I have a more obvious question. What kind of person(s) laugh and mock someone who is about to die and not try and help them?
Something tells me this won't be the first time they make the news.

Truly disgusting.

It actually is a textbook law case- duty to rescue/render aid.

Well the truth of the matter is, you are not generally obligated to render assistance to strangers. There are some exceptions of course.

right. i think the only exceptions would be if you are a professional first responder. you are basically "on call" 24-7

Dunno about first responders- maybe? Might be their job description but not gonna be held liable if they don't go into crocodile waters to bail you out.

Or if you have a close personal relationship to victim... ie cant watch your kid or nephew drown. Or if you are involved in an accident. Or if you caused them to be in distress, or if you started to rescue and then stopped and made them worse.
