Work is closed tomorrow along with everything else around here. Guess I need to put up my shutters, bring all the outdoor furniture and crap. What a complete PITA.

Most of my neighbors started doing that stuff the last 2 days. I put up my front shutters today. I have accordion shutters around the rest of the house, thank God; 20m to close them puppies up. Been draining the pool all day too, trying to get it just above skimmer level.

I've been following the storm on the news. The video / images of the power and destruction these things can produce is just mind blowing, truly. I will happily keep my MN blizzards. Safe travels to all evacuating; stay safe to all choosing to remain!

Not sure. He is pretty wealthy and from what I have seen it is a newer nicer complex. That's why I figured it would be a safer place to be if they aren't required to evac.

I dont see any scenario with this storm in which Orlando would be evacuated. We won't have any issues with storm surge and such, thats a major factor in evacuation orders I do believe. Thats not to say we can't have flooding issues but this is not a Harvey type storm.

we're open and running through Saturday morning until the landfills close, probably around 10am-noon. Man people are assholes about their dumpsters

Mandatory evacuations now in effect for my county (Pinellas County, just the coastline) been here since 1989 and have never seen this...I'm approximately 4 miles inland and on higher ground where flood insurance isn't required.

For what it's worth. My son bugged out and used 301 north and had no issues getting fuel and he is now in Madison county and says there is a fuel depot there. He will be heading further north west as the forecast presents itself.

I guess he is heading to Alabama with his family to avoid all the trouble. Thanks for the input though, eased my girl's fears.

This is gonna be interesting. My wife has lived here her whole life and is flipping out. Getting our ass kicked right now by a nasty ass T-storm.
