Brad - If a bunch of people are coming over to your place...is it worth parking them strategically against your house for added protection to the house? The cars will suffer damage regardless of where they are parked. Just a thought. Be safe.

Just picked up my last food supplies from our restaurant. I'm up in North Orlando currently and have been here before for several of these...Never have I seen someone handle it as well as our state has. Really confident in their proactive approach vs solely relying on post-storm aid.

I've heard lots of people are parking a vehicle perpendicular to the garage, my only concern is the giant palm tree in the front yard falling on my 5.0. I'm thinking about putting it in the backyard with 6 foot privacy fence all around, I'm torn??

I'd bet the tree does better than the fence.

I don't have plywood up either and many of my neighbors don't as well.

If I had to guess, I'd say 25% of my neighbors have boarded up. We ended up getting lucky and scored enough to do the windows in our master bed/bath and had a couple of friends hang things up.

Hurricane prep businesses will boom in FL after this.

If you Florida guys can, update us over time how you are and what the conditions are like. Would be nice to see an actual honest report of whats going on instead of through fake media.... Hopefully the storm wont knock out the cell network so you can use your phones.

Bunch of tornado warning popping up north and south of me. They say we'll be at risk for 24 hours.

Sustained winds are super low with gusts in the 40's and 50's.

Stay safe @03cobra#694 and everyone else down here.
Especially the guys on the west coast.

Edit: I'm on the east coast, Port St. Lucie.

I agree the local ABC,NBC,CBS, and Fox affiliates have been live since late last night with constant coverage. And yes the Interstates are now North only.

I've been asking my neighbors today and they said a 25 year old Palm is gonna have a serious root system compared to many other types. I know for sure the garage door is a weak point in my structure. Looks like the Coyote is gonna be next to it with a cover on.

What do you know I said earlier that most didn't do plywood, this afternoon my next door neighbor put some up and the house behind me, but still a lot don't have it. At about 5 pm the first wind bands were already gusting over 40mph here in Clearwater, I can attest to that I got blown off my ladder sawing overhanging tree branches, I was suspended 10 feet in the air like tarzan doing a pull up, the ladder tipped over on the ground got a nice tree bark burn on my forearm, haha..

I'm in Largo, a town in the St. Pete/Clearwater area. If I still have cell service I'll give everyone a play by play from the closet adorned in my hockey equipment.. All the local weather experts say expect to stay in a safe room for at least 6-8 hours, Man that's gonna be rough and scary.
